ME and ME2 are probably 2 out of 6 games total that I've gotten +200 hrs from over the last 4-5 yrs.

The plot was in shambles b/c it wasn't urgent enough for you? Sounds like you don't know know how to appreciate a good storyline or character depth either. Maybe you should ask Michael Bay to make you a game instead.
I don't think I'm the extreme minority, I may however be in the minority. I didn't say the plot was in shambles because of urgency, I said that it was one it's faults. Quote:

Most of the games I play are single player and I always appreciate a good story and character depth. Please read all my posts instead of selecting one and attacking me. Another quote:

In the end, opinions are just that opinions. Bioware certainly won't listen to me. They got those 60+ GOTY awards without me!

And for the record, I can't stand most action films.

If it turns out to be anything other than a cooperative campaign style multiplayer than it doesn't have any place in the ME universe, let that crap wait for the ME MMO.
I don't want to see it decked out with half a dozen multiplayer achievements and a leveling system like MW, COD, & BF.

I actually would prefer standard Crysis 2-like multiplayer to a coop. I'd feel kind of strange going through the story with actual people instead of AI. Also, how do you make it fun/rewarding to be the sidekick rather than the main character?

I'm interested to see how this turns out. ME1 is my favorite PC game ever. ME2 seemed more polished but I missed the weapon customization from ME1. More importantly, I hated every side quest in ME2 (other than the large DLCs like Overlord and LOTSB, which I thought were great). All of the in-game side quests in ME2 were extremely short compared to ME1, and didn't seem to fit into the plot or even to matter to the story the way ME1 side quests did. I'm not sure how co-op would help or hurt that. In the end, I think they just need to focus on tightening the plot and making me care as much as I did in ME1.

Just read the FAQ on the Social Bioware forums about the Multiplayer portion of Mass Effect 3. The Multiplayer portion can affect the out come of the war with the Reapers in Singleplayer. It is completely optional however, and you can win the war against the Reapers by just completing the Singleplayer campaign however those who play the multiplayer will have an advantage.

Source

I am a little disgusted that multiplayer can affect the outcome of a singleplayer game. Sure you can complete it without multiplayer and just go through singleplayer like you would the past two, but you will be given a significant advantage if you play the mulitplayer part of ME3.

Quote:
Success in multi-player will have a direct impact on the outcome of the single player campaign, giving players an alternative method of achieving ultimate victory against the greatest threat mankind – and the entire galaxy – has ever faced.

Anyone else hate Mass Effect? I thought that the story was extremely generic and dry. The game play matched it perfectly by being extremely easy and non tactical.

I'm relieved that it is just co-op and not deathmatch thrown in.

After ME1, I pre-ordered ME2 on day one. After ME2, however, I'm going to wait until after release to decide on ME3.

Good knows. Of course people will find ways to complain about anything, even an addition (e.g. well this will make the single-player worse!)

As for the OP... really? I can understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but Mass Effect 2's campaign was hardly considered unanimously "bad". Most reviews, by critics or users, gave the game outstanding scores, and I hardly think the first post of a "news" thread should take a swipe at that. I don't know what kind of "urgency" you wanted; if you wait too long after the crew is kidnapped, you lose many people. But anyway, I digress.

So far I've found the ME series to be my absolute favorite RPG since BG. For whatever reason, I find it much easier to take the story seriously compared to games like TW2 (which is a fine game in its own right). Of course, I'll always be a little wary, but I have high hopes for the third, and can hardly wait (just finished by 6th playthrough of ME2 last week, following my 11th playthrough of ME1).
Dragon Age 2 was certainly a disappointment, but I hardly think that it cancels out all of the great games Bioware has put out in the past.

Here's hoping for a great finale
