Best MMORPG?

I've played MMO's in the past but I always seem to run into the problem of actually finding people I enjoy playing with, and the guilds I do like because I know a member wont let me in because of experience.

I remember playing WoW last year and finding a great guild until the leader kicked someone for expressing a disagreement he had publicly over the vent channel, and everyone agreed with him and the leader ended up not playing for a month after that leading to the guild splitting up. One of the members that helped me greatly joined a new guild and I wasn't able to join because I wasn't as experienced with raids.

I've also played Eve-Online and found it to be a great game except for the overly long skill progression, and I actually have an old account that has a character with I believe 6-7m SP, but I forgot the characters name and I can't complete the login because it asks for his name.

Anyway, I'm considering getting back into MMO's but I'm not sure where to start. I've always found MMO's fun when you find people to play with that you like, but I've always given up because I don't have any luck finding these people, especially ones that are mature.

So does anyone have a good MMO in mind?

The only MMORPG I've been playing, on/off for a year is FFXIV, mostly cause of it's graphics and details in the animations. It's a bit weird, they're constantly improving the game over the year but slowly, and it's still pretty bad as in not release ready.

You could wait for SWTOR which is coming out soon, or GW2 which is out next year, or B&S other then that I wouldn't reccomend any mmorpgs currently out there.

Also, **** guilds. I always created my own or got a group of friends and made one.

GW2 looks great but I didn't want to wait, and I was afraid someone would say the current MMO's are crap.

I was looking forward to getting back into Eve-Online but I fear I wont be able to find a corp I will like, and if I would go back I wouldn't do it unless there was a corp waiting for me when I logged on, and I'm a bit particular about the corps I join. I know it seems selfish but I don't want to play with immature players who don't like liberal language, and I only like playing with corps that have a decent number of very experienced players because It gives me the opportunity to learn from them instead of finding everything out myself. I mean that's what a corp is for right, learning from each other, so why should I go out on my own to learn it when corps are meant for working together? Plus it's easier to learn from someone who is experienced, not to mention more fun working in groups, especially when you like those people.

I played WoW for years, but it lost its appeal when I didn't have any friends to play with, and I couldn't even stick to it for more than a few months when a few friends invited me back.

If I had the time to really invest like I used to, I would resub to EVE without a thought; something about the "spreadsheets in space" approach really get me. There's nothing else that I could play quite like EVE.

I know there's an EVE thread in this forum; I'm sure they have a few corps you could look into!

IIRC EVE revamped the skill progression in the last few months. Not sure what all changes were made. I cancelled when classes started back but may go back 1 day. You could give Lord of the Rings Online a try.Its free to play to a point then buy/ subscribe if you want more. Its the best F2P out there imo and I was subscribed for awhile. My favorite is still EverQuest as far as MMOs go. 6+ years and still a great community but I think its harder for new players to get into coming from WoW or another easier MMO.

EDIT: heres the OCN EVE thread:

I played Aion for a good half of a year. It's the best in my books, but definitely not a fair PvP world, not yet at least (PvP arenas to be introduced).

If you want search:

I didn't like Aion. As a long time WoW player I found RIFT very good, it's similar in a lot of ways but has some very unique features. You're always going to find bad eggs whatever you play but it's definitely worth trying, they have a free trial. I loved it, and only quit because I didn't have enough time spare.

What's the best Eve-Online race right now, I remember during Trinity Gallente was the one to beat and last year it was Minmitar, who's top dog right now?
