Constant frustration

The problems first started about a year ago when i bought my unit parts listed below, apart from the gfx card which was a XFX 5670, and a recently added corsair nova 2 SSD, but i found that from the 4gb of installed memory only 1.97 gb was usable, unsure of whether it was something i had done i did a bit of research and tried a few methods, nothing happened. so I was informed to do a bios reset or something along the lines of that, now i get the windows loading bar, with no symbol. and then i get a black screen, shorty after the computer shuts down

If you have the windows install disk you might try repairing your install on the SSD. as for your ram issue is it all on one card or 2x2GB? if there are 2 cards its probably just that one isn't recognized then try taking it out and cleaning the contacts and socket. if it is one stick that might be more of an issue. if you can get it to boot again I would try mem test to ensure that there isn't an issue with the ram itself. x86 artificially limits your ram capacity to 4GB but if part of the OS was corrupted it might only read 1.96GB. I have had times before where Overdrive read that I had 5500TB of ram.
