Antec 620 fan max speed 24/7

Hey guys,

I think I found what might be wrong. I think the threshold for lowest fan speed is set wrong. My pc starts with 25 to 30C but once its been at 100%(52C) it never drops below 30C. So I think it never decideds to lower the fan speed to lowest.

Going to hook the fan up to a 3.5'' fan controller and see what sound at which rpm I get might give me a better idea of whats happening.

But ye, Antec quiet operating brain set wrong I guess ?

*OLD
I was of the understanding Antec 620 should have intelligent speed fan control. My i5 2500k does 27-52C tops and my fan is always 1380-1450 rpm. Its quiet noisy.

Hi. You should check the bios setting in your motherboard. There should be an option to set your CPU fan speed to quiet, or maximum performance.

As he said, the 620 appears to supply power for the fan from an external source, so the fan must be controlled from where it is plugged in, in this case the motherboard.

Never mind... makes sense now.

The pump is a 3 pin so the motherboard doesnt interfere with the pump control. Bios wont change a thing right ?

Does it have a temp probe on it? if it does not then the fan has no way of knowing the temperature thus the motherboard should be controlling it. Also if it does have a temp probe you might check antec's website to see what is temp curve looks like. apparently the fan on the 620 has issues with that speed adjustment part which is why most people switch to a different fan.

so, you have the fan plugged into the pump, and the pump into the MoBo? if its set up like that, i cant imagine why it would be running at max speed like that

if you have both the pump and the fan plugged into the mobo, then that would be our prioble there

Fan into pump and pump into motherboard CPU fan.

GTX 580 twin frozr II and Fractal design R3, and my antec is making them both useless atm
post #8 of 13
Apparently my prior statement was incorrect. However, ~1400rpm is at the low end of the stock fan's range, so your best option may be simply upgrading the fan.

Quote:
Fan Speed: 1450 - 2000 RPM
Good luck!

Ye you are right 1450 ish is the lowest.

Differnt question, is it even possible to have a fan underload as in pushing/pulling air true a radiator to be quiet ?

Could try the Fractal fan that came with the case as I cant hear those at all but ofc they have no load.
Yes, but among fans of similar quality, there will be a fairly linear trade-off between noise and performance. I would say go ahead and test the Fractal fan and see what temperatures you can achieve with it.
