hey OCN...

Must... Upgrade... Something... Anything...

so. ive been bitten by the upgrade bug and decided that i should get a sound card. it needs to be...

• under $50
• better than my mobo onboard sound (ASRock 970 extreme4)
• be suitable for a razer carcharias headset.

recommendations?

Any sound card is more or less better than onboard sound and I doubt your Razer headset will put that extra oomph to good use tbh. But yea, the Xonar is great for under 50. Take note it is PCI. For PCI-e, go for the 50 dollar alternative DX.

If you have a best buy near you, they are having a clearance sale on Creative X-Fi Titanums... the best sound card on the market (my opinion) they're only $47.99 instead of $129.99 (instore)

The XtremeMusic is a solid card, I had a couple of them and loved them both when they were working properly. The XtremeAudio is indeed a poor product as it is a rebadged Audigy SE.
