I was surprised by the amount of people who said no. If you can afford to go to Taco Bell surely you can afford that extra buck! Thanks all!

We must eat more processed food to 'save' starving people, it is our last growth industry in America sadly.

If I am not mistake, World Hunger is not the only organization involved, they work with other organization that directly help the United States. That doesn't mean your money will go directly to that organization though. But there is also another charity that my friend operates in Nashville, Tn. I wrote this in another post for the thread suggesting a charity to support

"There is this one organization that my friend in Nashville Tn operates. They run a homeless feeding program under the bridge where many homeless people are living and around Nashville itself. Most of the time they get help from Trader Joe's for food. But when Winter comes around that is when they get hit the hardest because they also need items like coats, clothes, and especially sleeping bags. They do this every week and can feed about 100-200 homeless people a day. $100.00 dollars can go a long way for this group as they have different places that heavily discounts items they buy. For example they can get sleeping bags 3-5 dollars a pop! Winter is coming around the corner. I have donated several times in the past. Maybe helping a smaller group who could really use the donations rather than giving it to the bigger charities that already get a lot of support? Thank you for your time. Here is the link to the website http://thebridgebunch.com/ There is a link for an email if you have any questions. "

In this case as an individul is whatever you are able to give. There probably local ones in your area also.

For starters type 1 juvenile diabetes is part hereditary and hardly if ever preventable. The pancreas just stops working. I would know.... I have it. Completely ignorant comment.

Those balloons you buy go 100% to the Children's miracle network hospitals. Nothing comes off the top. Just because you read some place where some charity is a bit shady doesn't mean they all are.

I think the comments about charity's being so shady almost completely come from people who have never received donations from a charity or worked for one. My family benefited from a few of these no more than a year ago and we in turn help work for many of them now. Until you see how it works on the inside you are are only speculating.

I'd rather just have a "Donate" button on their website than deal with a human.

And for the record, I've given up on Taco Bell. They can't think of anything silly to put on the hot sauce packets anymore. It's a deal-breaker.

BTW, to people that mentioned Red Cross.. I would never ever ever donate to them. They are a horrible NPO (because they're truly not an NPO). To put it in terms OCN will understand/believe/support.. they make Apple look like Google.
Agreed. My Grandparents weren't helped by the red cross during The Korean War when my grandma asked for help. They said she didn't need it. I am sorry but she was raising 4 kids, and had no money coming in because the Army said my grandpa was MIA, when he was on a mission they sent him on. He wasn't allowed to communicate back home for a year. She had no car, no job, and no money coming in. There have been other cases of it too. And then what they pay their CEO....

/rant

I donate by doing F@H and other things I can personally help with. If I see someone homeless I will buy them food for the night, or give them some money. If they want to go by alcohol with it then let them. If thats what helps them feel better, then so be it.

I would have to totally disagree. Most people that go to fast food places, go there because their to lazy to cook anything. And most lazy people, don't have the best jobs, aka they don't make a lot of money. And secondly, a lot of the people that go to fast food places are poor, because they spend 5 dollars a meal twice a day. Now I'm not saying that everyone that goes to taco bell fits this, but a very large portion do. Alot of people I know fit this catagory. Mid 20 year olds, dead end job, no savings, and they go to fast food places 10+ times a week. Then complain they never have money to do anything. Hmmmm, why might that be?

And I have to agree, people dont like being made feeling guilty. In fact, I never carry cash, so if I go to a store that has a santa, or veterans at the doors asking to donate, I'll either leave or find a different door.

Your statement seems the most logical explanation, but humans don't make sense 90% of the time.
