Thankfully I wasn't that foolhardy (but dumb enough to get the job done I suppose)- the cup of water was sitting on my desk which I knocked over the side and onto my poor hapless computer.

Ah alright lol, I just remember seeing a warning with the case when I got it, and thought it was a bit silly that they would have to warn you to keep from resting water directly on top of the case, so I was hoping you hadn't done that.

I spilled milk in my computer the same way you did (top 140mm fan on my Antec 300) and I turned it off as quickly as possible, dried it up with a towel, and turned it back on and it worked fine.

All depends where the water gets and how quick you moved.

there's a lot to be said for keeping your tower on top of your desk, rather than on the floor.

Ever since my fiasco I keep my rig on my desk behind my monitors, and drinks on a separate table! 1 time was enough for me.... lol

not gonna lie, i looked in my case one day and had a pool of water atop my three day old 6970... i still worked but i still returned it.

take it apart, lay it out or some parts in rice then turn a fan on and hope for the best!

Part bake it,
Pre heat an oven to 190c and then turn the oven off once it has hit the desired temp,
Place said components on a baking tray with tinfoil standoffs under each component,
Insert in to the oven for Approx 15 > 25 minutes to thoroughly dry them out,
Remove from the oven and let them sit to cool down for 30 > 60 minutes,
Leave over night and test tomorrow,

And hopefully you will not have fried anything ;-)

What I do. When I want a drink I have to roll my chair over the the printer station/desk then roll back to whoop some behind on BF3.

Good luck op.

Amazing news guys! I'm still really early into diagnostics & testing, but I can boot into Windows just fine (even my rain0 array survived)! Sadly the casualties are one stick of DDR3 1600 2GB ram (sad) and one of my beloved 8800GTS 320MBs (I love it to death... and it died ). I'll probably replace that 2GB stick so I'll be back at triple-channel wonderland... and I suppose I should upgrade that last 5-year old graphics card... but I'm really gonna miss the 8-series.

Thanks a lot everyone
