Socket F overclocking

I have a pair of Opteron 2419's (1.8 GHz six-core Istanbul) on a Supermicro H8DME-2, which uses the nforce Pro 3600 chipset. I'm pretty sure I could squeeze more performance out of the processors if I could just find a way to OC them, seeing as these are "EE" processors downclocked to reduce TDP.
Anyone know of a software OC solution that is Windows 7 compatible? ClockGen and nTune both cause a hard lock =(
Does anyone know whether nForce Pro's are compatible with SetFSB?

Uhh, its not a laptop...its a pair of server processors on a server motherboard.
And before anyone yells at me for trying to overclock a server, I'm not using this for anything mission-critical...plus the CPUs were $30 off Ebay, and the motherboard $60, so there's really not much to lose here.

no software available to ovc that. i was thinking of getting the same config for folding. if you fold can you share any numbers with that platform?

WOAH. Pretty astonishing price you got there for the performance!!

Try to get this board:

ASUS L1N64-SLI WS

It allows overclocking, and actually overclocks like a boss. Dunno if it supports Istanbul-based processors though.
Will last until 2015!

that board is no good , is for 4x4 amd platform, if you look at cpu support list is really short, he probably got the mobo from here http://www.ebay.ca/itm/150680031824?...84.m1438.l2649 and cpus from here http://www.ebay.ca/itm/360385492764?...84.m1438.l2649 pretty nifty

actually i am going for the same platform right now. will upgrade the cpus later

So for those of you thinking about folding on this, I'm currently seeing 16k PPD (which might go up, it was 11k a few hours ago).
I also finally got the processors overclocked, via the SMBus method outlined here: http://twobombs.tripod.com/mcp55dox.html. The pair I got is rock-solid stable at 2080MHz (231x9); passes Prime95 torture test, LinX with a 16GB problem size, etc. and crashes spectacularly at 237.25x9 (hard lock as soon as I apply the overclock in RW-Everything). If I could only raise the CPU voltage, I'm sure I could get a lot further.
From what I can tell so far, this setup is roughly equivalent to a Nehalem i7 at 3.3-ish Ghz on multithreaded tasks (~70 GFlops on LinX, 6.93 Cinebench).
A board + 2 CPU's + 2GB of RAM is ~$120 shipped off Ebay. Add $20 for a cheap PSU (these are very low-power processors) and $10 for a cheap hard drive and you have yourself a nice, energy-efficient folding rig for $150.
A good price for ECC DDR2-667 is $5/GB. Note that many Tyan motherboards (all of the non-E revisions) do not support Istanbul, as the split-power-plane feature is absent.
Also, if you want to put PCI-E x16 cards in the H8DME-2 via an adapter, you'll need to ground the x8 presence detect pin on the adapter to get the BIOS to detect the card.

at 2.0 GHz each you should be able to complete even -bigadv units in time. It is doable on a Phenom II X6@4GHz so 12 cores at 2.0 GHz should pass fine. Your score should be around 30k PPD. have you tried to allow -bigadv units to be processed yet? which script did you use exactly? I assume the board has the latest bios? power supply you use has 4 pin cpu connector or 8 pin?

I haven't fiddled much with Folding yet; will post more when I figure things out.
I'm using a OCZ ModXStream 700W that I had sitting around, with a 8-pin connector for the CPU's, and the latest BIOS (needed to support Istanbuls). Directron has some good deals on refurb OCZ supplies right now which should work nicely for the task.

User manual says you need to connect both 8 pin cpu and 4 pin cpu power connectors. you did that? i might need a splitter for that. Someone else with experience in socket F platforms also suggested using nTune (here http://downloads.guru3d.com/NVIDIA-n...load-1267.html the only issue is it only works under Win Xp. For PSU I am getting an Antec EA 500 which has both 8 pin connector and 4 pin connector.
