Tritton Black Ops headset, crazy noises with USB plugged in?

Before anyone mentions it, yes I hate this headset and I know its a terrible deal for $149. I used to have the AX Pro and it was pretty good, but it broke finally. I picked this up to replace it not realizing that it didn't use the optical out like I wanted.

Well anyway, I decided to muddle through with it for now, and then this happened. It has a USB plug to power the lights and control dongle, and when its plugged in after about 10-15 minutes it starts emitting a "heartbeat" noise out of the speakers, even if I unplug all of the 3.5mm jacks. It goes on until I unplug the USB, and then it starts up again after a few minutes when I plug it back. It doesn't matter if its playing sound or not, it still does it.

Does this sound like a problem with my motherboard/USB or the headset itself? I mean, it seems like a good excuse to return it to the store anyways but I just want to be sure my motherboard isn't messed up.

I'm definitely not crazy. Its loud! I can hear it from 5 feet away from the headphones. I guess I'll just return it.
