My bong

Built a bong to play with the idea from spare stuff I had laying around(got really bored today, so I went ahead and built it).
Reservoir is a 5 gallon bucket, fan is a Delta 120mmx38mm 190CFM(got two for free, one on rad, other bong), PWM controller built from spare parts bin, pump in the bottom is a 600 pgh 12 volt bilge pump, the tower is a piece of 4 inch SDR that stands about 5.5 feet, and the heat exchanger is about 20 feet of soft copper tubing.
Currently, the whole thing is running off the computer's PSU. Brought the idle temp down to 30C(from 35C on just the comp rad). I'll have the load temps after I get a new waterblock(thermaljunk sucks).
Currently thinking of seeing if I can get a lot of ping pong balls dirt cheap to fill the SDR with(quiet it down and up surface area).

Still to do, stop the small water drops from blowing out the top. They keep getting my ceiling wet.

As soon as I get my darn camera working again, I'll get some pics of the setup.

So far, total cost for it is NOTHING. Did this entirely with stuff I had laying around from other projects.

if you can find one, use a slower fan than that delta - will reduce the water coming out of the top of your tower

Finally got the camera working after almost an hour of messing with it.
Here's the bong itself. The two 45's at the top are an attempt to limit small drops of water from wetting the ceiling. Seems to work pretty well when the fan is running on the controller.


Here's a closer view of the lower portion. The black box on the left is the PWM fan controller and power tie point for the pump and fan. The green blob is a lighter for the heatshrink on the cable ends that are inside the black box.


Here's what I pulled off Saturday when I got bored. No more major cabling in the way. The thermometer in the res is my way of getting an idea as to how well the copper coil heat exchanger is working.

Idle all night(still purging air, but done now), the CPU is 29C, GPU is 25C, and coolant is 21C. All while the room is at 22C. A better CPU waterblock and the core temps should drop, and thankfully, the XSPC RASA will work on the newer chipsets as well for once I upgrade the board and chips. I'll be ordering that as soon as a check from some work I did clears(have to love sidework).
I'll get the load temps tonight so that I can let it run for a few hours to equalize.
I'm thinking that I can get the temps down lower if I can get those ping pong balls(more surface area=more cooling). Sub ambient loop without condensation.

Only kind of rule I had when building this was no going out to buy any parts.

I use to have a bong like that and it wasn't for cooling any pc parts.More like cooling you off .We called it the "One hittah quittah".Oh man those where the days.Nothing to do but go to school,Surf,party.That "bong" cost me so much wasted money well worth it hahahah

Been running Prime95(using In-Place large FFT's) for 2 hours now.
Ambient 22c
CPU 40C
GPU 25C
Coolant 21C

Idle(30 minutes after test)
CPU 29C
GPU 24C
Coolant 21C

Guess I can't complain about a whole lot there. Next step, new waterblock, and then see if I can get this chip to hit 4ghz or more stable(I'm already at 3.85 ghz on a 3.2 ghz chip).

I did manage to find a source for the ping pong balls. 144 of them $17.28(about 23 bucks with shipping).

I got my 3.2 Ghz to 3.8 with the stock intel cooler on it , with an H100 it went up to 4.3 Ghz
