Problem with Lightroom Previews - Page 2

Well I decided on CS5 extended since after talking to them the only benefit to lightroom would be if I was taking a ton of pics and needed to organize them and also upload them to the net. I wanted the ability to do full picture correction. I am also going to get Topaz Denoise since I have read that it is a lot better at getting rid of noise than even adobe itself. I have been playing around with CS5 trial and to be honest I do not even see any difference with the noise reduction function in it. I am using only RAW photos. I am not a student myself but my girlfriend is so I bought it with here info They didnt seem to care. Basically if I can get everything done with just one or two programs I am happy. I know a lot of Pros use many programs but I do not see the need right now. I asked if I can install it on more than one PC and they said I can do 2 so that is cool. I may not use it on 2 but it is nice to have the option.

Go to your lightroom folder and delete the "Lightroom 3 Catalog Previews.lrdata" folder

This issue seems to happen in CS5 as well. AS said above it appears to have to do with some setting that is defaulted to not show the fix when you apply it. I am not sure if the code is exactly the same in LR 3 but I do see the same thing happen in CS5. I have LR3 trial and went and looked at the noise reduction tool and I got the same thing you did. I tried the above work around for LR3 and it seems to work. Also I saw that for some reason sharpening was turned up all the way when ever I selected a new photo which causes what looks like noise even if you try to adjust the noise out. Seems like setting the sharpening just below 50 works best.

Hm, I don't know if it's an Adobe thing, but whenever I've used Adobe Camera Raw, be it on PS or Elements, it always says that to preview NR, you have to view at 100%. Don't recall if LR does the same.
