Advice on my upgrade

Thread Starter
One of my PCs lost it's PSU and took the MB with it. So I've decided to upgrade my sig PC , take the parts replaced and make the dead PC a media machine for my TV. This wish list puts me at $412 and I'd like not to spend more than $500. Any suggestions would be great.

Just so we're clear; this is the build list for a HTPC, correct?

Power supply is a bit overboard for that setup. can definitely save some cash there even though that is a good deal for that particular unit.

This would do just fine

for a htpc an 880g board would be fine, or an fm1 build would be best

for $180 you can get an fm1 board with the dual 2.7
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.739569

will make for an extremely efficient unit
400w psu will be overkill

I'm Sorry , I should have been clear, I want to upgrade my sig rig and use the older parts for a htpc. I need a PSU , MB , ram , CPU ,HHD , OS ,and blueray. The PSU , MB and ram will go into the sig rig and the PSU from my sig with the rest will be for the htpc. It's been awhile from my last build and things have changed. I'm looking for the best bang for my buck that will be a upgrade to my sig rig and get me a htpc from the older parts. $500 is the target point or less. With that in mind , am I still going over kill on the PSU?
