CM Spawn or Xornet; what are the differences? - Page 17

Yes. That is why I considered the max speeds people are seeing on Enotus misleading. I hit negative accel and even slow swipes with it. I don't know what Enotus registers as the top speed, if its complete malfunction or negative acceleration, but the top control speed on the Xornet is very low.

The control speed isn't low on mine. There's no accel.

oh and how's the LOD?

Out of the box, the LOD is between two and three CDs on my Puretrak Talent.

v52 and 55 are completely unusable for gaming purposes

not bad. so I guess this mouse is workable sans the newer firmware. I wonder why they even exist lol

It's complete malfunction speed. I don't have this problem with mine (500 DPI), the sensor placement can give you that impression. A sensor placed slightly to the back can give you an impression of negative acceleration, just like the feeling i got from my G500 (positive acc with the sensor in the front). After 2-3 days you'll get used to it.

People complained about the high LOD so they released these firmwares. I think gamers using high sens can benefit from it.

I used the Spawn with software v31 and v32 and LOD was good. Applied the famous tape fix to it (the white tape) and the mouse didn't work anymore.

I installed v30a then, which by itself has a high LOD, and with the tape fix I have MUCH less LOD compared to the other firmware versions and it even tracks on white/bright surfaces now (talking about 1800dpi). If I lift the mouse straight up, the cursor often doesn't even move a pixel. The difference is especially noticeable in 1st person games. An almost perfect mouse now.

Much less than v31? Holy cow, I will try that later.

This isn't sensor positioning, this is disgustingly huge negative acceleration. We're talking 4-5 inches difference in the physical movement of the mouse between a fast swipe and a slow one to perform a 360. I know what acceleration is.

kramer, are you hitting the malfunction speeds on the stock firmware?
oh and how's the LOD?

I am hitting negative acceleration very easily with all 3 firmwares. I am hitting complete malfunction easily with all 3 firmwares.

At least the Spawn's sensor never malfunctioned entirely, it just had massive negative accel at medium-high speeds.

looked around a bit and apparently others have been experiencing accel issues, too.

*shrug*

man, these new sensors seem like a real ***** to deal with, at least in terms of trying to get them to work perfectly.

It seems nobody can really answer that question. The differences probably lie in details, which you either notice, or not. Only if you're a low sense gamer, the lower dpi of the Xornet might be more attractive.

From what I read on this forum though, I think I'd have taken the Spawn again. But you better not decide on my subjective opinion here, look for more "educated" opinions.
