The Spawn supposedly jitters at 800CPI with 125, 250 or 500Hz polling. It has a low control speed at 800 CPI and 1000Hz polling. The Xornet supposedly has low control speeds.

However my Xornet has control speeds around 3.00 m/s at 500 or 1000CPI with 1000Hz polling and no accel problems. I'm pretty sure that, like the Abyssus, not all Spawns jitter at 800CPI. So really, each buy is equally risky. I picked up a Xornet because it was less expensive and I haven't been let down.

Actually it's "max speed" = maximum speed read by the sensor. Most of the time it's lower then malfunction speed and closer to max perfect control speed (between these two).

What color pad are you using? From what I've been reading it seems like the Xornet performs better on a light colored pad.

Can you explain? If a sensor tracks beyond the "max speed" (like you said), then what is this speed? It's not the perfect control, it's not the speed at which the sensor mailfunctions ... what is it then?

so, if i'm preferred mid-high sensitivity, both would be a good choice right?

Even at $20, shipping and tax will bring it near Amazon's price so I dont think its that bad of a move.

Good point, I got free shipping and no tax, so I suppose it would have broke even anyhow.

There are 2 speeds to measure. Software like Enotus see only what the sensor reads. The second thing is real world speed (your hand moving the mouse). To some point the two are rising proportionally. This point is max perfect control speed. After that negative acceleration begins. Sensor is reading lower speed than it should (your hand is moving faster then Enotus displays). At some point sensor isn't capable of reading faster movement. It's the max speed I wrote about, this is what program is showing at the end, it's visible as flat line on charts. If you move the mouse even faster the sensor finally reaches it's malfunction speed and stops tracking any faster movement at all. You can't measure malfunction speed with software only.

This example is simplified. Some mice have positive acceleration, some hit their malfunction speed without any acceleration (perfect control all the time), max speed and max perfect control speed is often the same. See some charts form esreality mousescore for example.
