Thanks for answering.

If the sensor isn't capable of reading faster movements, isn't that the malfunction speed? Were you trying to say "if Enotus isn't capable of reading faster movements"?

What do you mean "at all"? Didn't it already stopped tracking? I have to admit i don't understand this. From what you said Enotus isn't accurate so it gives a lower malfunction speed (=max speed) than it actually is in real world.
Even if the speed Enotus reads is lower than the real world malfunction speed, how do you explain the results from my test? Enotus said Xornet has a max speed of 3.42 m/s on cloth. If what you say is true, then the "real world" malfunction speed might be a little higher than that. Back in 2007 Sujoy measured the malfunction speed of Logitech MX300 and it was 3.91 m/s. Needless to say the Xornet is nowhere near the malfunction speed of MX300. I can make the Xornet reach the malfunction speed pretty easy, which is impossible for me to do with the MX300 or G1 (3.30 m/s according to Sujoy).
Judging from Sujoy's results i would say the Xornet's malfunction speed is 1.3-1.5 m/s. Something like the Avago 6010 (Logitech G3). I would say Enotus is highly inaccurate and it probably reads a much higher malfunction speed than it actually is in real world.
If somebody can clarify this, please do!

Plus the guys at the CM store will charge you a restocking fee if you find that the mouse doesn't work out for you. Amazon doesn't pull that BS.

For example see 125Hz chart for WMO from ESR (http://www.esreality.com/?a=longpost&id=1265679&page=4). Up to 1.0 m/s there's perfect control. From 1.0 to 2.0 m/s the chart is flat, amount of counts is the same but speed is constantly rising. For Enotus mouse is moving 1.0 m/s at real 1.0 m/s and same 1.0 m/s at real 2.0 m/s. So max speed for this mouse (using 125Hz) is 1.0 m/s. Malfunction is over 2.0 m/s when the chart is dropping to 0 counts.

Enotus isn't accurate because it gives you only one value, the highest. Try using Outerspace's logger to plot some charts. Sometimes you'll see random spikes well above surrounding readings. They are errors obviously, but Enotus could take that kind of data as max speed. You can ignore such errors when you plot a chart.

Oh i see now. So in this case Enotus max speed is actually the perfect control speed of the sensor. But how do you explain the numbers i'm getting for the Xornet? The max speed in that case is actually alot higher than the real world malfunction speed.
Also the Outerspace MouseLog graph looks like this

Also, although the data isn't yet very conclusive, I suspect the Xornet uses the same MCU as the Spawn (with the same max perfect control speed limitations) because those two paralel spikes both registered a value of 127 counts.

598

If Avago 6010 is only 1.3-1.5 m/s (according to Sujoy) then the Outerspace MouseLog is also inaccurate, because there's no way Xornet's malfunction speed is the same as Avago A2020. Many people hit the malfunction speed with Xornet (myself included) and i don't think anybody can move a mouse with 3.5 m/s (atleast not when they're playing games).

just done some testing with mine

cs 1.6 - about a whole artisan hien for a 360turn - sens sens ingame 1.2 - 500dpi 1000hz stock firmware

artisan hien VE red : very hard to make it skip but not impossible

artisan hien hard black : hahahahaha PATHETIC

puretrak talent : same as above frown.gif

*** ? frown.gif i would really like to use the talent because it's so soft, xornets glides better on it that the hien and my pinky doesn't feel weird when it drags along the surface, i'll try the beta firmwares just incase i find something that gives me a higher perfect control + malfunction speed

Just wanted to say that the CM Spawn has a $10 MIR if your purches between 11/25/ - 11/27 here. This would bring the price down to $28 which is almost the same as the $27 the Xornet is now.

It's been said, but it definitely seems the Xornet performs much better on a light colored mouse pad. You could always try out the Artisen Shiden, you can get it in white and a pinkish color and it has much better glide than the Hien.
