Don't know where i got that from but started doing that years ago and haven't had issues ever with that method.

nah driver sweeper is a bit harsher. i actually dont recommend these driver sweeper programs - they've caused me really sever problems loads of times. the reason why ccleaner works is cos its a registry and junk files cleaner. i often use registry cleaners after uninstalling programs. uninstalling drivers, using a registry cleaner and then finding the AMD/NVIDIA folders in drive C and deleteing them should do the trick. using driver sweepers is like taking a sledge hammer to somethng that just needs a little bit of a wipe to clean it!

If I understand you correctly? In the bios your MB temp now reads 10c higher (29c-->39c) after an unexpected power shutdown, 39c is fine, many of us have had unexpected MB temperature inconsistancies to no specific attributable cause. Additionally I use CPU-Z HWMonitor to read MB temps in Windows, but it can also be erratic at times frown.gif

The only reason I suggested "Driver Sweeper" (harsh?) for "Wicked" is he was having the classic problem that has come up for years when switching Nvidia/ATI graphics cards. A complete clean uninstall of both driver sets then a clean reinstall of updated drivers has fixed the problem for many of us over the years! I'd much rather exhaust all trouble shooting possibilities than go through the hassle of an RMA frown.gif ... I highly doubt there is anything wrong with his motherboard or bios settings if he followed procedure, and his 6870 seems to also function fine, just not in the correct slot ---> most would summize this is a driver problem? each to his own, just trying to help smile.gif

no thats fair enough man thumb.gif ive suggested driver sweeper or similar programs many times myself! its just ive found that they've caused me lots of issues that ive only been able to sort with fresh installs of windows. i would try uninstalling drivers, deleting all relevant folders and cleaning relevant registry entries first. then if all else fails try driver sweeper. just wanted to warn thats all!

Update! Did use Driver Sweeper to clean house and no go for my 6870. This is my take on this matter. The 6870 is shot and will not read 16 lanes from PCI slot #1 for reasons I don't understand. This I honestly believe is the issue.

Besides I'll get another 6870 in the next few weeks. I'm sure that one will work as my just can't get it done,

I have a very unique problem that I hope someone has a solution. This morning I updated my bios to 1.32 and then the fun started:( Upon restarting Windows says my system isn't activated. So no big deal activated it online and everything was cool. Restarted to set my overclock and guess what...Windows isn't activated again.
So do the online deal again restart and I'll be a sob the same damn thing happens again. So I try to activate online and I get an error saying that my key isn't legit. *** so I have to call microsoft and spend 25 minutes explaining what was happening and they activate it. Can you guess what happens next? Yeap it deactivated AGAIN.
Does anyone have any idea what the hell is going on? I've never heard of this happening and have no clue what to do next. I reflashed back to 1.30 and it didn't help.

Hey all, 2 quick questions...

1. How do you take bios screenshots on the z68 extreme4 gen3 board?
2. Is there a way to export/save your current bios with all settings as a file to like a USB drive or something like if I wanted to back up and save it?

Thanks!

1. yeh just press f12 and make sure you have a FAT32 formatted usb drive in so it can save to that thumb.gif
2. im not sure about that but i would actually like to know that cos it would've saved me a lot of hassle today when i was switching between different BIOS versions!

Ok,
CPU-Z HWMonitor also shows an average cpu temps of ~28*C
However the MB still differs, oh well I guess
