I've been extremely happy though about this motherboard purchase. For 121.99 this board was a steal! I've been pretty much trouble free, besides couple seconds with 1.10 BIOS, otherwise everything else has been sweet sailing! thumb.gif

well im happy for you man smile.gif i just RMA'd mine today because the BIOS was bugged and I couldn't fix it by reflashing it. This might just be a rare case but its put me off. My first non ASUS board for a very long time and this happens... Hopefully I can get a refund and get something different, but if I have to take a replacement of the same model then hopefully it'll work out and swing my opinion back around!

Hey guys, looking into upgrading to a extreme 3 gen 3 here soon. Anyone buy this board reciently? Im wondering as to what bios it came w/, i know ill have to update it anyway ( newest ones are 1.20 & 1.30) but curious as to how much trouble i will have with the usb mouse and UEFI right out of the box.

If the mouse doesnt work correctly can you still use the keyboard to navigate and change settings like in a traditional bios until bios gets updated?

Yes you can use your keyboard to change settings in the UEFI just like the traditional BIOS.

No idea if you will have trouble with a USB mouse though as it seems to be a issue on random mouses.

yeh keyboard use in the bios should be absolutely fine. my mouse worked with the original bios for my board. it seems to be mainly logitech mice that have the issues but the beta bios sorted that out for me. i found myself using the keyboard most of the time anyway haha.

Ok cool, i just wanted to make sure but as long as i can at least use the keyboard until i do a bios update then that will be ok. My current mouse is a CM xornet but i also got a few other ones that i can try if mine doesnt work.

Any other worries w/ these ASrock boards? From the reviews they seem to be the best bang for the buck. I've enjoyed my current gigabyte board over the last 4 years but the new gigabyte boards just aren't impressing me and dont seem to offer as good of features that the ASRock boards are offering. The gigabyte boards are more expensive too.

Also will a bios update be the only thing needed if upgrading to ivy in the future?

I had a problem flashing the bios within UEFI. All I saw are 2 rectangles when trying to load the bios files. I used the F6 method and it worked.

I didnt have a problem with my mouse (Razer Diamondback) with the default bios

yeh dont worry it'll be alright, and if your mouse doesn't work - the update should fix it thumb.gif these boards do seem to offer a fair amount for the money i suppose but im not to experienced with asrock boards so i cant say to much other than im not happy with mine. ive found it disfunctional on the bios level and the software + drivers buggy also. i also haven't been impressed by the features gigabyte offer, or dont offer should i say, for the money. there will surely be a bios update for the ivy bridge cpu's and that should be all you need to do i imagine!
