Yea your right. i had the right idea for fixed i think, but i was subtracting the load voltage from the voltage set in bios rather then subtracting it from the idle voltage.

Here is a quote that i found on here. If im looking at the graph correctly it appears that if your on offset then vdroop is the difference between the idle 1.23v and the amount it dropped on load to around 1.19v and the difference between the 1.23v idle voltage and the 1.25v set in bios is the offset?

i got my cpu set at 1.20 in bios, i idle at 1.168 and my load voltage was at 1.120v. So my vdroop would be 1.168-1.120=0.048.

ill try it again but then that would mean that when i change the LLC level from 3 (where its set at now) to 2 then my CPU-z idle voltage should be higher then 1.168 correct?

vDroop - the difference between the idle and load voltage.. Generally, you get a higher voltage when idling than when at full load. That's because it works as a self-protection mechanism to prevent too much voltage surging into the chip and frying it, or not giving it enough power.

For example, if your chip needs can take a voltage range of 1.35v - 1.55v, you might find that your idle voltage is around 1.50v. When you put it under full load, it'd drop to 1.47v. That's vDroop.

The board gives it extra voltage at idle so that when the chip goes into full load it can handle the negative voltage drop without going below the minimum 1.35v.

Likewise, the voltage upshoot from from full load to idle is protected by vOffset. That's the difference between your idle voltage and the maximum the chip can handle. You might find that when switching from full load to idle the voltage goes over the 1.50v and then comes back down to settle at 1.50v. That's to give it some room up top away from the 1.55v maximum.

Right now I am at 5.2ghz w offset @ .160 lvl 2 LLC, runs 1.520-1.544, vid hovers at 1.396... It's still a work in progress at this point.

With offset what is your idle voltage in CPU-z ?

I dunno, like 1.0V & around 10W or something like that @ 4.8ghz+, but I use c1e enabled. It makes no differnce in performance (actualy my 2600k performs all tasks faster with c1e enabled), & it runs quite cool that way.

Not sure if you know but the fixed voltage drop you are seeing is not vdroop per say but the vrm in the board I would imagine. You will need to run higher bios voltage in order to hit your goal voltage at load.

The llc should not change from lvl1 when using fixed vcore from my testing. You can change it but when you re-enter bios it changes back. The offset is a multi x's frequency from what I have read.

Oh i know i had my E8500 running @ 4.03 on 1.22v but that was in bios, it was lower in cpu-z. I understand its going to be lower in cpu-z then bios but i figured that w/ LLC i would see the CPU-z voltage being more close to the voltage set in bios. Im cautious when i overclock an i didnt have LLC on my old board so im just playing with them at stock before i clock it up. Im going to play w/ it on fixed voltage for now just like my E8500 and E6550 was an see what kind of overclock i can get. Maybe after that i will play w/ offset but as of right now it doesnt interest me

I ran my E8500 at 4.03 for 2 years and it showed no signs of the cpu degrading at all. I cant imagine a newer cpu not being able to handle a fixed voltage. ill see how i feel after i play w/ it alot more but ive read a hole bunch of threads on different forums and some run it on offset and some run it fixed so we will see what kind of clocks i get w/ what vcore and temps on fixed then ill go from there
