The only thing I need performance is games so probably I don't even need to OC for now. But I'll go into Sandy OC threads and learn new things cos this is my first Intel based machine.
cheers.

Those options are there for P2.10.

Nope, only for the Gen3s. I'm running the old vanilla Z68 Extreme 4... Anyway, it seems the new L2.05 BIOS that came out yesterday fixed it... smile.gif

One thing I'm missing is the Power Saving Mode option which was there in the 1.xx BIOSes. Anyone experiencing such issues too?
Hi all. I posted this on the overclockers guide as well, but I thought I'd post it here as well as I could use some help.

My Extreme 3 Gen3 appears damaged (or perhaps a better word is defective). I've lost USB2 front panel channels a two weeks ago and now today my sound is suddenly all distorted, sounding like its underwater. I've changed speakers, drivers, reset the CMOS, no difference. Note that I've done absolutely no new overclocking or anything else with the board. This came out of the blue. Now if someone know how to fix the sound, I'm, umm, all ears, but this seems like bad mobo juju. Also, at the same time, I've noticed that the first step of the post process is taking significantly longer. That started at the same time.

Given that the front panel USB2 is out (this actually happened two weeks ago, and those USB channels or whatever you call them do not show up in Windows Device Manger) and now the sound (all appears well in Windows for sound, I think it's the board itself) , I want to RMA this board to ASRock. Someone several weeks back posted a phone number directly to ASRock. Does anyone remember that post, or know the number. They sounded remarkably user-friendly. Thank you.

Never mind, I solved it. Very weird. The sata connection to my storage drive had somehow work loose, and it was causing audio distortion. Go figure. This one is a total mystery to me. Well, at least my mobo is okay. I really really did not want to RMA, even with the bad USB2.

My bad, you have to go into BIOS and disable Smart Connect. See how that works. Sorry, a little tired. rolleyes.gif

problem solved. i just researched the device id and downloaded drivers for it. didnt want to install the thing but i came with the bios update. twas INT33A0... smart connect tech biggrin.gif

new problem though. all of a sudden, my lan conked out. i figured this has something to do with the bios/cmos batt because there was this one time that my date suddenly switched to april 2012.

anyhow, here's my rig just when i was switching to a lian li pc-7fnwx. changed to a noctua cooler now as well.

if you look closely there's a 3570k somewhere in there.

Yeah, I just noticed that Asrock also released a ton of new drivers including Smart Connect and Rapid Start. I don't think those were available the other day. My LAN was getting flaky too so I installed the beta drivers that were available and that fixed the problem. Turns out ver 7084 that used to be the beta version is now under downloads. Give the new driver a shot it fixed my issues.

I was using the RealTek 7.084 drivers, but this was listed a few pages back. Installed the newer 7.053 with no issues at all.

My bad, as i've stated i'm a little new to the intel world again. This thread is too huge to go through the whole thing, i'll search specifically for trumpet-205 posts in it. I've also did some more indepth searching and your right, IMEI (or ME, IME) is the over all concept which encases both TXT and AMT and other such tools.
