Recently had an issue trying to install the new Windows 8 Preview Release, so thought I'd share, as I think it's related to the 2.10 BIOS on the ASRock Z68 Fatal1ty Pro Gen 3.

My motherboard (ASRock Z68 Fatal1ty Pro Gen3) had a BIOS update to version 2.10 last month. Now when I got to the BIOS and select my DVD player, it has one listing as PATA: Plextor DVD and another listing as UEFI: Plextor DVD. If I select the "PATA: Plextor DVD" as the boot drive, and save to BIOS, the system will reset and POST, but will then just show a blinking cursor and doesn't read the DVD. If I go back into the BIOS and select the "UEFI: Plextor DVD" and restart, then it does show the "Press any key to boot from CD/DVD" and will read from the DVD. But then when I select the custom install, it shows all the hard drives with the message "Windows cannot be installed on this Disk. The Selected Disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed on a GBT disk."
So what I did was took a 16GB USB Thumb Drive and used a program called ISO to USB. Had it install the ISO to the thumb drive and made it bootable. Restarted, went into teh BIOS and select the 1st Boot Drive to be "USB: CORSAIR". Restarted, Windows 8 started to install, selected Custom, and NOW was able to select the drive that I wanted it to install to, without that "GBT" error that it was giving me when using the DVD.
So the problem may have to do with this 2.10 BIOS, as selecting "PATA: Plextor DVD" will not boot the DVD, but "UEFI: Plextor DVD" will boot, but then can't install due to the GBT error.
