Several guys are and they seem to like it ... But if your not upgrading to IB now or in the near future and follow this thread regularly ... THEN you already know what I'm going to say redface.gif

In a nutshell, you will have a nicer more polished UI (looks), but could suffer in other area's especially max overclocks ... see [HERE] posts #'s 2535/2533 ... if your willing to replace your bios chip to optimally get back to your original Sandy Bridge bios (v1.30?), if the flash goes bad/or it doesn't boot as expected, then go for it! ... It's probably 60/40 maybe even 70/30 on the happy customer side, as long as you know what your getting into wink.gif

EDIT: I should've asked what are you looking to improve? Alot may depend on that to weigh the risks vs reward rolleyes.gif

Offset is good for idle temps when you don't have fixed frequency so say it idles at 1600MHz with low voltage rather than staying at load frequencies with higher voltage so that would help lower down temps as well as power draw.

I cant stand this new bios and i am not running Ivy so its really pointless for me.I went from easily getting 5.3 Ghz to not even being able to get 5 now. Plus i cant stand the triple boots and everything else it does with the new bios.
Anyone remember the version of the bios i am talking about? Or the newest before they changed the style to this new mess.
Thanks would highly appreciate it.I know i should have looked at my bios version before updating but i didnt frown.gif
Here's the download link for the 1.30 BIOS.
http://download.asrock.com/bios/1155/Fatal1ty%20Z68%20Professional%20Gen3%281.30%29ROM.zip
Even though you can flash it, you will get an Intel Error each time you boot up, but can ignore it.

I now fully understand why it's called fixed. biggrin.gif
I thought it meant you could enter the exact amount of full load voltage. Offset is the way then!

Yea offset really is the way to go except maybe? when max benching or suicides. For the oldschoolers it was a bit of a learning curve when Intel came out with Turbo clocks and a myriad of power saving C states and pretty much doing away with Bus (BLCK) clocking and Ram dividers.

Offset works OK in Auto mode but if your moderately overclocked and are getting BSOD's you may want to look at "manually" setting your Offset ... some basic info/explanations [HERE]

OK, thanks, that was really helpful. At 4.2 I didn't even change the voltage. I want more options for higher clocks when benching. I think fixed would be better at higher voltages. I don't like upping the voltage 0.05v at a time when i know a 0.02v step while do the trick. I still didn't find a way to enable it though.

Edit: Apart from the Fixed Voltage mode, i just realized that i don't have LLC options in the UEFI. I need that, and i saw on another thread that other Z68 Pro3 Gen3s have it. I'll update to 2.30 Bios later today, but this is really weird.
Pics: This is another guy's Pro3 Gen3 and his UEFI looks exactly the same as mine.
This is a third Pro3 Gen3 WITH the LLC and Fixed Voltage option.
What's wrong with that?
