Hey all, I've been building a machine on top of the z68 ext4 gen3 for about 2 months now and I'm about to convert to water. I was wondering if anyone had gone so far as to try 3-way crossfire or 3-way sli with this board specifically? The audio, power reset and USB connectors just below the last PCI-E slot seemed like a fitting issue with a dual slot card, but I think ill have a bit of room to work once I'm rid of the dual slot stock cooler. Currently running 2 6970s and will likely be adding 2 more 2600x1600 displays. Just wanted to see if anyone had done 3 cards and if there are any issues with the board support outside of cooling and power supply. I'm running a Corsair AX1200 and cooling with 480+240 rads, btw.

I haven't seen anything posted on tripple Xfire or Sli but would like to see how that turns out though. Very nice set up buddy!

Not much clearance at all. That's why I'm switching to water cooling in January 2012!

Hi guys, I'm hoping one of you will be able to help me out. I'm looking at the ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 and I think its dead sexy and sounds like a very solid board. I've always have been an Asus guy so I have no idea if ASRock has a program like Asus's Fan Expert where you can set fan curves and it runs all in the background. My plan is to run 6 GT-15's on a 360 rad in push pull off a Sunbeam Smart Rheobus connected to the CPU PWM header and I want control over the fan curve. The other question is how strong is the MB PBC compared to most Asus boards, I don't like week PBC's.

I have a 2500K cooled by a Hyper 212+ with my E3G3 board and attempted my first overclocking experience. It's gone ok. I'm at 4.4Ghz with a fixed 1.33 vcore. Prime maxes out at about 65 degrees, and I'm running 28 degrees when idle.

My questions are which bios setting will auto reduce the vcore when idle? Will changing that setting affect my stability? Is that the "power save" option people above are referring to? Is 'fixed' a good setting, (0 offset) or is auto or the other variable setting better for vcore? I have the CPU fan set to the lowest speed when idle and kick in to maximum at 65 degrees - is that safe? Thanks a lot for responses. thumb.gif

AFAIK C1E, the other C states, and LLC are the only settings that will reduce idle vcore.

Actually my VCore goes down to 1.29 sometimes when idle. Is that considered normal or is it supposed to go lower? I may already have the correct setup.
