Dude, that's gonna be a sweet rig when completed. I did notice however that you never mentioned what power supply you will be using. Whatever you do don't skimp on that psu, it's what most will refer to as the heart of the system.

Ran into a more critical problem: My system locks up randomly while browsing the web or instant messaging. I passed 30 minutes of the 1344 and 1792 FFT tests in Prime95, but I'm crashing on desktop/web browsers? Any one have clues as to why?

I will post BIOS settings later.

Did a 30 minute run on max RAM test before that, no problems. Woke up this morning, was still plugging away at temps in the high 60s/ low 70's, and what was even better is my fans/pump weren't waking the dead with noise. Will even have to resume my quest for the 5GHz club. biggrin.gif

Now to RPG2: 1) Can't help you with that one except to say that you should check your power settings. I make mine simple... if it has a 'never' setting that's what it gets! 2) My mouse worked OK with BIOS 1.2, problem being it was slow as molasses. (Oddity: found out a couple days ago my mini bluetooth mouse would move like greased lightning... go figure.) Now with the BIOS 1.3 my USB mouse (RAT7) doesn't work properly, cursor only moves to the right, up and down, no matter which way I move the mouse itself. (The bluetooth mouse still flies everywhere just fine... its unstoppable!) Honestly though, I could care less. Got used to using the keyboard, much faster for me. 3) I think the general consensus is Speedstep gets disabled as it drops the speed and therefore negates any true overclocking results (and just how fast your pc works in general). I have just about everything disabled with the exception of those things I brought up in an earlier post.

For clarification, I'm on the P67 Extreme4 Gen3, but I imagine the boards are almost identical. It just sucks that my mouse doesn't work in UEFI, but to be honest I prefer the old keyboard only style.

If you disable speed step, you lose the power saving aspects. I assume the CPU can gauge whether it needs full overclocked speeds to accomplish simple tasks like browsing in FireFox versus BF3/Skyrim or video encoding.

Subbing in. Built a budget build on the Z68 Pro3 Gen3 yesterday. First time using Asrock and so far I'm impressed.
Obviosly a speed demon. lachen.gif

Ya, I'm not sure why I bothered validating that either.

Anyway I will be gifting the PC in a few days. Though I will be taking care of it for it's new owner and possibly doing some folding on it so I thought this looked like a good club to keep tabs on.thumb.gif

Hello ,

I have the Extreme 4 Gen 3 motherboard. I have a very strange problem with one USB hard disk. Its working on my two laptops when plugged in
but on my workstation PC with the Asrock motherboard is not. Its either powering up and down every few seconds...so i can hear it starting and stopping.
Or its not spinning at all with the LED flashing green and orange...
Any ideas why this strange problem is happening ????

(also stupid question but why isn't my rig show on the bottom of my posts and a signature , i have filled in my specs twice but nothing :S )
