so is there a reason why cpuz is saying my 2600k is at 4.3ghz but windows index is saying 3.4ghz

I believe windows only shows your cpu's stock speed. Go to device manager and click on processor and the drop down should show you 4 cores at stock speed.

when i had my Q9550 it would always say Q9550 @ 2.8ghz 4.0Ghz....... with the 2600k is says 3.4ghz 3.4ghz weird

yeah all thats disabled in the bios. cpuz is showing steady 4.3

Finally got time off of work and found this tread while trying to get a stable over clock. I got to 5 GHz with my core i7 2700 but feel better running it at 4.8 im loving this new cpu replaced an Amd Phenom 940 and it made my whole system much more enjoyable.

What are other running there systems at as far as day to day speed s go?
This is my first time over clocking a core i7 cpu and would like to see how far it can go, but i want to be safe at the same time.

I jus overclocked my 2500k to 4 ghz (yeah yeah i know its cause i have no real cooler). Just wanted to make sure all i had to do was raise the multiplier right?
