Max vcore at these settings in bios shows up as 1.304, in windows CPU-Z and AXTU reports 1.28 as the voltage under full load.
Are these settings completely safe for 24/7 use?
UPDATE: I have changed my vcore from auto to offset of -0.010v.
The bios now reports a max voltage of 1.296 and the max I see under full load with CPU-Z/AXTU is 1.264v.
Those settings look good. Run Prime Blend for a few hours.

Sounds good. I realized that auto vcore is much higher than I need. I'm running offset -0.020v. Ran prime blend for a few hours stable. Lowering the voltage anymore causes BSODs though so I guess this is as low as I can go. In bios the voltage shows up as 1.284, in windows it shows up as 1.264 (CPU-Z/AXTU) under load. Which of these readings is the correct one?

Hey guys, another new ASRock owner here. Just finished installing the Z68 Fatal1ty Gen3 to replace an Asus. So far I think it's great. Even though most of the OC settings for all boards are very similar, I'm still learning all the little intricacies of this board. Can't simply take my 4.8 setup from the Asus and put them in this board. I'd like to thank hajabooja for posting these screenshots. It's a very stable 4.8 setup and a great starting point to work from and try to get higher. I have been benchmarking with PCMark7; I prefer that because it tests a little bit of everything. This setup passed with no problem. My main goal is to have a stable 4.8GHz but I also want to get a successful 3DMark7 run @ 5.0GHz.

I have to say, so far this board has been great. It boots extremely fast, is fairly easy to OC (I'm going to keep trying to change things with this current BIOS setup to see if I can make it more efficient and try to get a little higher). The only complaints i have so far, which I've mentioned on another thread is the header configuration and fan control. I don't like the fact that all 5 fan headers are different and the two CPU headers are not identical. If you don't have a splitter you can't set up a push/pull and have both fans run identically. I've had to go back to a single fan because of the headers. The complaint I have about the fan control is there is significant lag in how long it takes to speed up and slow down. If I run Prime95, it takes a half minute to speed up and as soon as I shut Prime95 off it takes another half minute for the fan to slow down. With the Asus board it was almost instantaneous. It would be nice if there was a way to create a custom fan profile but I guess that's irrelevant if there is such a lag in fan speed. Aside from that, I love it so far and high recommend it!!

Oh yeah, that initial screen needs to go. rolleyes.gif

Here's a link to the PCMark7 results with the settings quoted in the above post. Only thing I noticed with this board compared to the Asus is I needed to turn my video card clock speeds down to get a successful 3DMark run or else it froze up.

ASRock Fatal1ty Z68 @ 5.0 GHz with all the hardware listed in my details

http://3dmark.com/pcm7/234102

vs.

Asus Maximus IV Extreme @ 4.9 GHz with same hardware except Corsair XMS 2x4GB 1600 RAM and mildly higher video card clock speeds.

Hi all,
Got my extreme 4 gen3 motherboard for Xmas but having a abit of a n00b moment mad.gif

When I run coretemp, it shows I'm at 3.4ghz with temps around 30c on all cores, now when I run CPU-z, it swaps between 1.6ghz and 3.4ghz at the same temps.

Which is correct? If it's Cpuz how do I turn off the 'power saving' feature where it downclocks:thumb:

Going to try and OC it today.

It is being cooled by a TRUE for now.

TIA

just managed to boot into windows at 4.8 with 1.38. will put it through it some stress tests.

really impressed with this chip and motherboard, cant believe how easy it is to overclock:thumb:

If you pass the stress test at 1.38 vcore you may have a really good chip on your hands. In fact, you should be able to get 5ghz with some good cooling. GL buddy!
