My new 6870 showing -167C and other issues

Thread Starter
I am checking using the new GPU-Z... and it shows my temps as being -167C.... showing GPU 1, 2, and 3 as being 900+C...

Also, I cant seem to get anything to register on ATI Tool and GPUTool... but MSI Afterburner registers my card and works just fine. Using the new drivers direct from AMD today...

Any ideas?

I may try reinstalling drivers, and reseating card, but everything is working as far as gaming just fine... so I dont know. Makes no sense.

I have the same issue......But I don't get any drop in frames. I would reset the card and I would not use the preview drivers.

Did you just replace with this 6870? You can try this to clean previous driver and registry.

1. Remove all CCC driver. Restart PC.

2. Clean it with Atiman Uninstaller v.6.0.0.msi. Download LINK

Run it with administrator privilege. Some antivirus software will give false false positive. Let it restarts to complete uninstallation.

3. Install Catalyst 11.9.

Ovredrive says -57C....

I tried using the ATIMan tool, did all that, installed new drivers, reseated card... still no change....

The card is working fine, it is detecting clock speeds just fine, BUT, temps are a no go....

This might sound extreme, but fresh OS install might solve it. Then again, if doesn't have impact on performance, just ignore it.
