Monitor loses signal 10-20 sec after startup.

Hi.

After i changed my VGA cooler fram stock to actic accelero xtreme plus 2, i have gotten a problem when starting up. The screen turns black 10-20 seconds after i start the computer and a message on the screen apear that says it has no signal. The computer it self boots up fine. It has no problem going all the way to the windows desktop as i can hear the welcome jingle in my headphones.

Why does that happen and what cause it to do so? I have tried anything i can possible do by my self. I have tried other pci-e slots, other monitors in hdmi and dvi, i have reset the bios on both the motherboard and the graphics card. I have dismounted the hard drive so the vga driver could not make any conflict there, if it happen to be a driver problem. I tried to go in safe mode with F8, and the computer does what i want it to and all other things too. But no matter what, the screen turns off or lose signal 10-20 seconds after startup.

Before i changed the vga cooler i actually had all my hardware components removed from my case because i wanted to do some modding to my case. I also opened my power supply, but i didnt touch or do anything other than removing the fan and put i back on again. I have tripple checked if some cables were lose, or they were in the wrong place, but nothing is wrong there.

So what can this be and what can i do about it? I assume it has something to do with either my graphics card or power supply, but i cant figure out what.

So please help, as this is really important. Thanks. smile.gif

Did you "ground yourself" during the upgrades|? static is evil you know. also try driver cleaner to get rid of all old driver files ect and reinstall. Ati drivers from my experiance leave all sort of junk on your machine even when it tells you its uninstalled.

Go for a fresh install see if the issue stays

I am gone to ask something silly but did you check to see if you put the vid card all the way in the slot? I had the same problem and found one of my cards didnt go all the way in on the back end of the card. Start checking the simple things first

The Actic Accelero Xtreme Plus II fan is connected to motherboard PWM or to the card?

Try to clean the driver and registry with this:

1. Remove all CCC driver. Restart PC.

2. Clean it with Atiman Uninstaller v.6.0.0.msi. Download LINK

Run it with administrator privilege. Some antivirus software will give a false positive. Let it restarts to complete uninstallation.

3. Change PCIe slot.

4. Install Catalyst 11.9.

If you are installing 11.10 preview drivers, set the UAC to minimum.

No i didnt ground my self. Its really important huh? frown.gif But i cant see anything after 20 seconds because the screen loses signal and turns black. So i cant remove any driver or what else. I did remove the hard drive so the driver could not have impact on the graphics card. And it still happened. So i dont think it is a driver problem. Or what do you think?

Yes i checked it several times. I also switched pci-e slot. But neither worked. frown.gif

The accelero fans are connected to the card. Should it be connected to the motherboard and not the card it self?

I cant remove any drivers from my hard drive because i cant see the screen 20 seconds after i boot it up. Not even safemode. Thats just weird.

No, the instruction is to install it on the card PWM header. Just wondering if it might have something to do with it.

Can you boot with onboard video? Or try it with another graphics card? But you can make it into BIOS setting?

I have no onboard vga. But i will try another graphics card later to day when a friend will come and help me out. we are also going to try my card in his mashine to see if it works properly.

Yes i can make it into bios setting. but the screen just lose signal. It can also go straight to the windows desktop. The problem is that it acts exactly like someone removes the monitor dvi cable from the card. The computer works fine and i could do anything with it if I could remember the exact order to do things without a screen.

If you can make it into BIOS, it is driver related. Get another card to boot into Windows and clean it with Atiman Uninstaller above. After that do not install preview driver then give it another try after you tested the card in another system.
