it looks it's more than the gfx render it looks they tied in some other stuff mainly the gfx auto balance. i'm tired of every one blabbing on about dx11 can it and shut your dirty mouth!

open gl can be just as good or nearly so i would even agree that dx11 may actually be better how ever id has been known to give the linux and mac guys some love and i assure you it cost money to license dx9,10, or 11 so you won't see dx working on osx or linux any time soon how ever it appears open gl does work on not only windows, but, also osx, linux, wii, ps3, wii u and several other oses.

yes open gl is multi plat form and i think that was the reason they chose it over dx and i think it makes up for it. there are surely more patches on the way. i hear rage isn't all it's cracked up to be and is really linear any ways. i really wanted rage guess i'll wait till it gets really cheap on steam.

There is a huge article that was posted (I think it was here) that made the case for OpenGL as being a better platform both in hardware performance, graphical detail and ease of use; but of course DirectX is what is used because of (mainly now) it's large populace audience (platforms).

Actually it was more like a FUD campaign by Microsoft, which got a lot of developers more heavily on board with Direct 3D. Because so many developers started using it, Nvidia and AMD started focusing on it more in their drivers, and because they did that even more devs switched to Direct 3D and so on and so forth. The setbacks weren't the fault of OpenGL not being powerful enough.

This is why I am happy to own an Nvidia card. Never had the issues that most ATI guys are experiencing.

I'm with you , I guess he wouldn't call OGL a crappy gfx api if he lived the gaming era back in the good ol days

btw yes, AMD openGL support sucks in many games/apps, one of the many examples is heaven not able to use any kind of CFX when running on ogl
