Well back in my watch repairing days I used to use one of these to re-grain brushed metal parts.

Just got to find out if the top part is just polished or coated.
If it's coated i'll have to sand all the paint off, polish then re-grain.

I can achieve a straight grain by eye but some may need to put a strip of masking tape down as a guide.

[edit] these are better for detail about 4mm across.

It sounds to me like you aren't pressing the key down to it's actuation point. The IBM Model M is only 2KRO and is celebrated by many to be one fo the best keyboards to type on.

It is a 2kro problem and most enjoyable doesn't mean the most efficient. I'm not going to type slower because a keyboard can't register my keys. Trust me, I bottom out and can certainly type "talking" just fine on blues of any other board or different switches/domes easily.

So you are saying that when you type you press 3 keys at once? I don't understand.

Well i've been using this for a few days now and have to say it's not bad.
Not bad at all. A little bit plasticy in places but for the money I won't complain.

Now if some can point me to where I can buy the keyboard from Alien where Dallas communicates with "Mother" then i'll be a happy chap

You can. They use Cherry MX Blues, so any Cherry MX keycaps will fit.
