Please, people, realize that the beta was not just to find bugs in the game itself.

He comes of VERY defensive.... I wonder why.

I haven't really seen anyone complain about the bugs in the game, about 99% of complaints have been about the game it self, in particular, Battlelog.

And the fact is, the beta minus the bugs was VERY close to what you will see on launch day. It will take them the entire time between the beta and building the final product to get the kinks worked out, there will be no time to change much else..... and if they did change much else, it would introduce new bugs that would need to be worked out.

I think they are realizing that the hype behind really took a hit with the beta release..... and it had nothing to do with the glitches.

We really want to stay in the game post-launch. From an economic standpoint, that's not the cleverest thing to do, but that's not why we make games. We want to make games that we can be proud of, and releasing a game of this magnitude... it's quite a big game.

Honestly? First off, you'd be defensive if people were bashing your product for reasons stemming from a misunderstanding of the beta process. Also, they've been working on the game through the beta certification process and the beta itself, so clearly the bugs ought to have been sorted in that time.

And the consensus seems to be that the beta is fun, despite the problems.

Honestly I didn't run into many bugs or glitches in the beta, and my desire to buy the game only heightened after playing the beta. Sure I have some strong feelings about some terrible features, but they don't take anything away from the game itself. I feel like most of the complainers were simply those that are trying to find something wrong with the game so they can complain.

As for the defensive part, it sounds like he's simply exhausted. It was a busy beta period, and there were a lot of useless comments that they had to filter through 24/7. I'd be tired and frustrated too.

You only have to look at the BF3 thread in the PC Games section to see just how excited people are about this game, highest post count in the section and it's not even been released yet... I for one cannot wait for release, yeah it's got some bugs but it'll still be the best FPS/Vehicle warfare game for years to come.

I don't work in the game industry but even I know the beta was used to lure in more pre-orders. They throw us an early build and call it beta because they don't have time for a proper demo. Most of the bugs in beta have already been found and fixed before they even released the beta. If the community complains about something enough dice will say "lol k, day 1 patch bro" or the CM will say "I'll bring this up with the team". People will ***** and moan but they will still buy the game because of this.

I didn't have a ton of problems with the bugs but I still don't like the lack of a commander and the command windows for the commander and squads. That said the BF2142 beta was probably better than this... I don't see that as a good sign.

@ducktape: Well, obviously there is that aspect. However, I think the clarification that the beta was that, a beta, and not a demo, is important. I don't know exactly what purposes EA and DICE had in the front of their minds with the BF3 beta, but it seems to me that if it really was intended to primarily lure in pre-orders they'd have patched it during its run.

Anyway, I don't want pretend to know too much, but I just wish there was more openness to the different aspects at play here.

I thought BF2142 had a demo, not a beta. I spent many a'hour on that demo.
