810$ rig ordering tonight - before bulldoser - Page 3

Spending that much on Amd? How about a cheaper alternative?

2500K/Z68 build - 778.91

attachment.php?attachmentid=233289&stc=1&d=1318362233

Can't wait to read all the hate i get for suggesting a 2500K build thats cheaper, faster and better.

What Intel junk have you had? A crapload of us have Sandy Bridge with no problems whatsoever.

I'm not trying to sway you but would just like to hear your gripes. Your spending 800 dollars on an Amd rig then probably upgrading to Bulldozer right?

+1 from me biggrin.gif I no longer want intel. For others, alright you can have it, but I am tired of the endlessly changing sockets, the skyrocketing prices, all of it. I wouldn't trade my AMD rigs for 10 intel machines.

Socket 478 P4 under stock cooler - no oc or volt mods - idled at 89C - chip died at 115c.

socket 370 pIII under stock cooler - no oc or volt mods - cant play games at all- ran hot- chip still around(Degradeing in my bacement)

Socket 775 celeron i like this chip - except it's temps - 80c on idle still around - for sale on craigslist http://lancaster.craigslist.org/sys/2616661216.html

Current intel crap - Socket 775 p4 630 runs hot, slow and crappy.

so when i think of intel i think

Slow, Hot and crappy.

Current intel crap - Socket 775 p4 630 runs hot, slow and crappy.

so when i think of intel i think

Slow, Hot and crappy.

I feel your pain about your Pentium 4. I had one as well and it was pure CRAP. The only 775 processor i had was an E8500 which flirted with 5Ghz on water. The Celeron's were indeed slow crap but clocked like mad in the right board.

Now you have to realize that 775 came out in 2006 and the celeron's are a good 3 generations back then the current sandy bridge processors. These days Intel is on top of the game and those old days of being slow, hot and crappy are over. I put that build together to save you some money and headache. Your going to spend 800+ for an Amd build then 150-200 dollars more for bulldozer? Thats over a grand of performance you can buy right now with a 2500K for 781 dollars. Do yourself a favor and hold off on ordering till tomorrow and read a bulldozer review that hits at midnight. You may just rethink my build after you do. Any questions about sandy bridge.. PM me.

Also Z68 supports intel's 22nm Ivy bridge processors coming out in March so no new mainstream sockets till atleast 2013.

I don't see any reason to hate on intel here, Phenoms are oudated, i5 2500k build is cheaper and 2x faster.
It's not like AMD has anything to compete on the 1155-1156-1366 socket.
A phenom 2 x4 9xx is as fast as a i3 540 which can be destroyed by that i3 since it is 32nm fab thus it can overclock much higher on air than any phenom.

p3-P4 is old school, indeed it run hot.
The current Intel gen runs cool and is overclockers friendly.

I vote the intel build mainly because it's cheaper and recent technology.
Indeed it will be outdated someday. what do you expect, we used to have to build $2k computers to have a "decent" computer, nowdays $900 you can run any games maxed out.
