Yet another "Which fan is best" thread..

Thread Starter
I've been searching high and low for a few days now, and from what I've seen, only a few names keep popping up when it comes to aftermarket radiator fans.

That being said, I'm torn between which to purchase.

I'm looking for performance, while still being pretty quiet at 100% load.

AP-15
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/10...Hot_Item_.html

NoiseBlocker
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/84...?tl=c15s60b160

NoiseBlocker MultiFrame
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/84...l?tl=g36c15s60

I would like to run a push/pull setup, so I'd need 4 fans. I don't want to break the bank, so cost is a little bit of an issue.

Is there a big difference between the multiframe noiseblocker and the other NB I listed? More in terms of noise, as I'm sure performance is still on par.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Out of those options, it really depends on where they will be mounted. If they will be horizontal, get the AP-15 as it has ball bearings. If vertical, take your pick of the NoiseBlockers, though even in that configuration, I'd also suggest the AP-15.

Generally speaking, mounting sleeve bearings horizontal will decrease their effectiveness, slow down the speed, affect the static pressure greatly and potentially reduce their life.

If mounting vertical, you can also look at Yate Loon as a very cheap alternative. I would not recommend using them horizontal.

I have only tried the Gentle Typhoon, but I can say this much, it's awesome. I have 14 of them on my rads. It's not silent, no. Any decent-speed fan on a radiator will have some noise. It's not a lot though, and the GT's have quite a pleasant tone. Martins tests clearly shows the GT's in a league of their own, in terms of Noise/CFM on a radiator.

Just my 2c on the GT's

They will be mounted horizontally. I have a HAF 912 and have to mount the radiator at the top of the case. So, I guess the GT AP-15s are the winner.

The noiseblocker fans are sleeve bearing fans? They do a great job of hideing that fact, where can I find info on their bearings, nano sli says nothing.

Coming from Cooler master R4's, I was amazed at how quiet the AP15's were. My temps remained the same as well. Absolutely amazing fans, you get what you pay for. They are practically silent, at full speed. Should outlast the cheaper fans too.

Going to return my H60 tomorrow and see if I can keep the fan without them noticing. I'd only need one more to do a push/pull setup. Assuming the fan that comes with the h60 is the same as the fans that come with the h100.

I use a box fan in my room, and don't really mind excessive noise, as long as it's not at idle.

Yates are fine when vertical, not good horizontal. I have Yate mediums in push/pull on my horizontal 360 rad and can barely feel air coming off them at full speed.

According to this review and bench, AP-15's get the reccomendation.

Check it out. There is a reason they are so reccomended
especially when you consider noise to static pressure ratio, they cant be beat
