How to remove thermal paste? - Page 2

Wipe the worst of it off with toilet paper then use lint free cloth or a ball of cotton with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol. wink.gif

I got 1 litre of 99% isopropyl alcohol off ebay for £5 or $8, should last me like 5 years.

90% is unnecessary. 70% will do and you can get it at your local drug store for 99 cents.

I use a tissue to remove it

I've used 70% before, but it leaves a little residue.

You're crazy. I've used 70% for years and it doesn't leave anything on there. If you tilt it at a slight angle to some light you can even watch it all evaporate before your very eyes.

If it left a residue, then either it was contaminated, of whatever you use to apply it, contaminated the surface.

I wont get in to the nitty gritty, but the as the alcohol evaporates, it takes the water with it.

I use 70% isopropyl with coffee filters. Works well enough IMO.
