[Gamespot] Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Review

In Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, the last action you take is not to participate in a thrilling dogfight, or to victoriously soar through the clouds in an F-14 Tomcat. No. The very last thing you do in this airborne action game is to press a button to pump your fist in the air. No single moment exemplifies the spirit of the new and soulless vision of Ace Combat better than this display of alpha male bravado. Assault Horizon provides heaps of the visual spectacle you'd see in a summer blockbuster--but absolutely no depth.

Damn, I had high hopes for this game . Gonna wait and see what IGN says about it, but from the looks of it, I won't be getting it. I always liked the AC games, especially 4 and 5 on the PS2. Oh, well...

how disappointing ! was looking forward to this, but the demo was rubbish with poor controls and over the top dog fights.

I beat the game today and it sucks. The story is cliche and stupid and the game is short. Ace Combat 5 is still the best game in the series.

Wait wait... there is an Ace Combat game without a cliche/stupid story? Show me.

Ace Combat games have awesome stories. It's unbelievably disappointing that they'd forfeit the series' identity to chase the Call of Duty crowd with Assault Horizon.

I'd say I'm looking forward to the next game in a few years, but I imagine Assault Horizon will be the best selling in the series and encourage them to make another Westernized disappointment.

I really hope not. AC:AH is the worst game in the series.

I guess I have just never found the stories of ace combat that amazing because saying the story kinda sucks doesn't surprise me.

I will probably check it out when it hits 20$ because I have always found the gameplay reasonably enjoyable.
