Any comments on this monitor? Worth the upgrade you reckon?

Hey guys, check out [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-U2711-Ultrasharp-Premier-Widescreen/dp/B003A4H17S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1318372901&sr=8-1"]this[/ame] monitor. I would like a new one at this size and think this looks pretty sweet. Anyone had experience?

I do photo editing, video editing, 3D modelling and gaming smile.gif.

EDIT: I plan on a multi monitor setup eventually. At the moment i have an LG Flatron W2261VP. Do you think this would be a good upgrade for a monitor?

Thanks!

That is a very highly regarded monitor and should suit your needs well.

I don't personally own one (pricey), but I know someone who has one, and it is a great monitor. I do, however, have its little brother, the U2410 biggrin.gif

That one looks good also. Do you reckon i should go with the U2410 if i plan on having a multi monitor setup in future?

See my edit in the OP for my monitor i have now smile.gif. Thanks again.

U2311H / U2312HM are much better choices.

False. This is going as far as blatant misinformation.

There is very little that could be considered a better choice for the OP in the 23" models. Very little. Especially for his usage. Most of it would be a slightly lessened input lag, but for what? Lost resolution and a much worse panel. Also decreased size.

At the OP. YES, it's worth it. Especially for video and photo editing. That is an amazing monitor. It's great for gaming too, just not the best. But in video and photo editing, it shines! High resolution, lots of choice in the features, you can set it to srgb or wide gamut if you want, and it's factory calibrated in srgb mode, if you don't want to mess with calibration right at start. Also has amazing warranty coverage if you are interested in that, nothing beats dell warranty here. wink.gif

Specific info here http://tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2711.htm

EDIT: Of course I'm referring to the u2711, but that and the u2410 are very similar, the biggest difference there is the resolution.

I have a Dell U2711. I could not recommend it more highly. Other than the NEC PA271W, which uses the same IPS panel, it's probably the best 27" monitor on the market. My calibrated monitor has a deltaE of 0.2., which is superb. There's another great review here

EDIT: I use my monitor for color critical work, photo editing. It really shines here, has a fabulous viewing angle, onboard USB hub, a card reader, and audio outputs that will allow you to use the HD audio capabilities of your graphics card if you so wish.

Yes, HP ZR2740 and U2711H are also great choices

Avoid U2410 though (It has an old standard resolution and is not future safe in any way.)

This is a load of crap. Please, if you have anything to say about this, go post in a resolution flame war thread and link that here, no need to clog up a perfectly fine thread with any of your copy pasted misinformation filled spam that you copypaste on OCN like 6 times a day. Trust me, most people know all that. We know! You have no need to do it so much. Just because people have different preferences than you doesn't mean that your message was not clear, it means people disagree with your preferance. wink.gif

Got it? Now stop spreading around what is complete misinformation with absolutely zero basis on fact.
