Is it like a FRAPS? Wonder if they'll get it on console.

@SheepMoose
What exactly can't you capture with Fraps? Legit question.
FRAPS eats up resources, drives down performance, and takes up a ton of space for recordings.

This system would be like the demo system from cod4 [or the theater mode from black ops if that's more familliar]. the recordings are all done within the engine and it doesn't hinder performance like fraps does.

Afterburner is getting pretty legit, they keep updating their codecs. Right now they have their new compression system doesn't really take away any resources. I get almost no FPS drop when I am recording.

Very good point. I've never really noticed Fraps eatting up resources BUT Fraps recording at like 30fps for like maybe 2-3 minutes, It takes up alot of space. It sucks for editing.

Fraps also offers compression. My only problem is that the video looks like garbage IMO if you use the built in compression. there are always artifacts and you still lose performance.

Does afterburner look any better [if you have used both]?

For those who still don't know the difference between FRAPS and battlerecorder:

Quote:
A built-in game recorder records battles for subsequent replay. These files can be downloaded from a server which supports BattleRecorder directly after their respective game. Recorded battle files are around 1 to 8 megabytes in size and are played within the Battlefield 2 engine. Camera angles can be changed (free roaming & selected player), as well as the speed, though there is no rewind capability. Files can be exported to AVI format.[14] The Battlefield Recorder has facilitated the creation of various machinima. Usage of the PunkBuster service is mandatory for all official ranked Battlefield 2 servers, but optional for unranked servers.[15][16]
