1. DO NOT get 'X' series CPU's unless you absolutely NEED 12 cores - i.e. ONLY if your doing HEAVY video editing / rendering. If not, it is a 100% waste of money that will never be used in gaming (within 5 years). For gaming, after having 4 cores, all you need is CPU speed.
2. If its just being used for gaming 8gb is more than enough. I only upgraded from 4gb to 8gb because of my rendering work.
3. Anything over 15" is not portable. They weigh a ton, and are massive. I dont know the screen size of either of those, but thats what i've found with laptops in general.
4. Get a SAGER. Much better price. This, by default, will do all the gaming you'll ever need: http://www.sagernotebook.com/index.p...el_name=NP8150
If you REALLY want to, go to a 580m or 6990m. Either way you'll be well under $2000.
Im personally using that laptop (last october), with an i7 740qm, 8gb DDR3 and a GTX 460m. With that, I can play any game out there at 720p. I could have gone for a 480m, but to me more cores was important for rendering / photoshop (and a $1500 budget). I can game on my desktop.Edited by doomlord52 - 10/11/11 at 5:36pm
