Buying this mobo tomorrow...put my mind at ease.

Tomorrow I will be purchasing this ASrock board

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ock-_-13157226

Now before you flame, let me give you some back story. My old ASUS board had an Nvidia NB chipset and wouldn't play nice with my newly purchased MSI 6950. No matter what. I need a board that will allow me to slap on my Phenom II 920, 6950 and accept my DDR2 ram. I don't have the money to go 2500k/ddr3 before BF3 launches and need this as a "temporary" board.

My question to all you fine hardware aficionados is this. Is there anything that I missed in checking specs/etc. There aren't very many options AT ALL left in the AM2+ boards, and this one was one of the few that would take all four sticks of my DDR2.

Any other boards that you guys recommend to fit my situation? I'm all ears. Looking for less than $75.

Thanks,

-CCC

If you can't spend more than $75 that's probably your best option, you're right, AM2+ boards will be tough to find. Just don't try OCing with it, power delivery doesn't look great. If you look around OCN or Ebay you might be able to find a used AM2+ board that would let you OC more.

Thanks, I won't be doing extreme OC'ing. My asus m3n72d sucked at life and I could still get my 920 to 3.5 stable. As long as I can do that with the ASrock until new years I'll be ok. What do you mean by power delivery? I need educated. Also not sure how I feel about buying a used mobo. Haven't seen anything worthwhile for sale on OCN myself. Open to suggestions.

This should explain it pretty well.

Basically if your CPU uses more power than the board is designed to provide you can burn out some components. Overclocking will always increase the power usage of your CPU.
