Rear Fan and PSU

Hey guys,

I have a question. Can a bad fan connected through psu molex kill the psu and lead to frying my whole computer?

I say this because, a couple of days ago I received my HAF 932 Advanced. I took it out of the box and was happy with it so I put it back in the box. While I was putting it back though I noticed the rear fan cable was dragging along the box so I took it out again to check if the cable was alright. I gave it a slight pull to see if everything is still intact.

Thank you...

So youre talking about the fan that comes with the case on the back? What do you mean it was dragging along the box? Is there any visible damage?

And, no, it will not kill your PSU or anything else. Fans go out all the time. Worst case would be a short to ground on the power cable, and your PSU should be able to handle it as long as its a decent PSU with decent overcurrent protection.

Yep, while I was lowering the case back inside the box the rear fan cables were sticking out of my case and dragging along side the cardboard. From what I can see, I don't see any visible damage at all. I'm just worried that there's damage where I can't see the cables.
My PSU is a corsair TX850. Thank you for the reply, by the way.

Na you have nothing to worry about. The worst that would happen whould be a cable falls out of the connector and the fan stops working. Nothing will happen to the rest of your system.
