well, upgraded to a phenom II x4 970. been studying the maths of memory and oc. here's current specs.

amd phenom II x4 970 @ 3.85ghz
Asus m4a79xtd evo MOBO
Corsair GS 700 PSU.
Corsair Vengeance Blue 1600mhz 2x4gb = 8 gb memory.

240 bus x 16multiplier @ 1.475Volts
HT 2160
NB 2160
CPU-NB Voltage Auto
NB Voltage Auto
Dram Freq Auto
Mem CLock 9-9-9-24
voltage auto
800mhz Memory Speed

Prime 95 ran great at 235. bumped to 240 to level off memory. 8 hours of blend test ( heavy memory ) Worker 1, 2 and 3 we're still testing. worker #4 stopped due to error after 1 hour 39 min.
i rand the middle test (in place large) which is cpu heat heavy. workers 1, 2 and 3 kept going, worker 4 stopped at 39 minutes. At this time i had cpu voltage at 1.46x volts, so i bumped to my current 1.475, ran the in place test, and came back and computer apparently crashed (fatal error) am i missing something? or is my 4th core weak and taking a dump?

i appreciate the help!

Why you droped your multiplier ? Just Increase Multiplier do not touch the bus speed. Stay with 200 Bus increase Multiplier to 19x and you'll get 3.8GHz stay with 1.475v.
CPU/NB voltage to 1.3v if you increase NB to 2500-2600MHz. Memory Voltage to 1.65v and you are done.

well this is going to sound weird, but i'm not really trying to overclock the cpu much at all. i'm more of trying to bring my bus, northbridge, south bridge, and memory clock and timings more efficient so the computer in total will run better. The 3.85 ghz (oc) is just a by-product of my settings. So i dropped the multiplier to keep the cpu around the setting i want, but bumped the bus to bring the HT, NB and memory up. i may have to switch it around a bit once i find the maximum bus my board allows, (apparently 240 atm,) and go from there. Next i need to learn how to adjust the memories CLK timings. I bumped the voltage to 1.48v for the cpu last night, this time core #3 got an error. something about rounding? number was 4.8xxxxxx - expeted < 4. any insight on this?

Do you have a stock cooler? If yes that's why your crashing not due to weak cores but due to heat.

and ram should be fine at 1.5 thats what there rated as and corsair are good ram that you don't have to touch the volts to run at rated speeds

Remember you have to downclock your ram if you OC with your FSB
