6950 running slower than normal in some applications.

My graphics card(Sapphire Toxic 6950 2GB) seems to be running slower than it could be in certain applications; namely JPCSP(A Java based PSP emulator). I have my card overclocked to 920 core and 1420 memory, but while using JPCSP and having GPU-Z in the background under the "Sensor" tab I see that my core clock never breaks 500Mhz and memory never goes over 1375Mhz. These are both the MINIMUM allowed clocks under CCC.

Also, many other people using the same version and video settings of JPCSP can run this game at full speed with computers not nearly as powerful as mine. What gives?

It doesn't require the card to run fullspeed for that game and in Windowed Mode. There is no difference in performance either way.

I'm not sure how that would work. The game isn't running at full speed, it's actually running quite slow; wouldn't the card running faster boost it's speed?

Try other 3D games in fullscreen and check the core/memory clocks.

It gets to 920/1420 in every other 3D game.

Yea nothing is wrong with the card, it's just that one Java game. Playing a movie will give you the same clocks as for that game. Give it a try.

Are there any known problems with ATI GPUs and 3D Java apps?

Bump. I just noticed that GPU-Z is showing 0% load on my GPU. Is there any reason why an application would not use the GPU when it is suppose to?

Someone told me it seems as if the program is running in Software Accelerated mode and using only my processor. I have a feeling this is related to the application being based on Java somehow.

I feel like pulling my hair out because I have no idea what's wrong or how to go about solving it.

You can try to enable "hardware acceleration" from CCC menu. Don't remember exactly, not around my computer.
