lol

best case scenario for the FX, when the performance is limited by the VGA,
now let's see when the CPU have more weight on the final performance,

http://www.hardware.fr/articles/842-...rma-ii-oa.html

so, at best, when limited by the GPU the FX is as good as anything (Phenom II, Core 2 Quad, i7s and so on), but in other cases, when a game depends more on the CPU performance is a lot worse,

if those last few graphs are correct, i am very glad I am not the AMD product manager.... incoming.

Either something is not quite right yet or this is really bad.

Shogun2 is one of the heaviest games for CPU usage that exists and the FX is showing off what it can do in that test.

If you are determined to find a reason to not buy an FX, I am certain you will find one.

Not when its hopelessly bottlenecked by a single 6950.

exactly the same result and you think its impossible that something else (GPU) can be limiting the performance at the test they used? (notice, the game can be CPU bound in some parts, but not always, and probably their benchmark is in a more GPU limited demo/test) seriously?

the one trying to handpick and take things out of contest here is not me,
it's very easy to find reasons to not buy the FX, finding reasons to buy one is harder,

they weren't even able to run the game on the FX, but look at the Phenoms

same here

Lol...

The BD archetecture will enherently get faster as software developers move into 64bit space. A BD chip now, doesn't hurt anything... just that single benchmarks only test derivitives of singles aspects. Granted, AMD didn't add enough decoders to their uarch & PD will fix this. But, the BD chip doesn't slow down the computing experience, it just doesn't meet the threshold of being a dominant chip.

Also, I can garuantee that this BD (4 years from now), will handle future software better than the current SB. It is inevitable, and spending $245 now doesn't mean ur rig is slow! And.. since, "Joe Public" does't buy a computer every 3 years, I see no loss for AMD. It just isn't a big win for current software.

So a BullDozer chip is not a bad choice, it is just not the best choice if all you are concerned about is software in 2011.

Coincidentally, anyone test BD with BF3..? (With full-on apps running in the background, under Windows8?)

To me, benchmarking with only 1 piece of software running is a fallacy. Run these benches, with WoW/etc in the background & see how they stack up. That is what real world use is about. Hardly anybody runs single (multi-threaded) programs alone... so why do you run benchmarks that way?

Clutter up ur OS and see what chip has the beef to chug through the mayhem. That is a true benchmark of your system.

That said, I would choose a 2500K (over FX8150) if I made my living off of benchmarking. Though, if the FX8150 was competively priced @ $215... I'd buy it every time, because it has more value & longer legs. (Well.. at least until it is eol in feb, lol)

They turned down the graphics settings to maximize the CPU test. At some point you are going to have to come to grips with the fact that a company called AMD is selling a CPU called "FX" that kicks butt at gaming. It even costs a lot less than an Intel CPU that performs about the same.

How does the $260 FX 8150 cost less than the $220 i5 2500k ($180 where I buy CPU's)?

I had a feeling bulldozer was way over hyped and wouldn't even beat SB. Good thing I already planned on going ivy bridge. But these numbers are way worse than I thought they would be

Intel didn't like when King Athlon ruled and will never let the underdog take a shot at them again.
