They're thinking not about us. Obviously gamers weren't even an afterthought in this thing's design. Maybe it is supposed to be future proof. I can't tell you what they were thinking, but I'm sure they were not thinking of us.

There is only a slight chance (like 5%) that there is some huge problem with drivers/bios which will get fixed and give us an additional 40% in performance. There is a better chance that newer revisions of the chip will perform better. However the best chance is that the next iteration of the architecture will perform as advertized.

I'm sure everyone remembers AMD's "50% more cores, 33% more performance" statement. Even THAT hasn't come true. mad.gif

A 6950 is not a bottleneck to around 99% of the computing world, including me. I don't understand where you are going with this , are you suggesting that kicking butt in the very latest most graphics intensive game ever created like BF3 means that FX doesn't perform well? You are REALLY reaching for straws here.

I support and agree with much of this statement. I wanna see 2-,3-,4- way SLI and the same for Crossfire to see how this thing really holds up.

if they sucked at single threaded apps but did GREAT on multithreaded apps then they have a good selling point. but even the most heavy threaded applications it barely beats an i5 2500k. why would anyone buy a bulldozer if it barely beats the i5 2500k and will be alot versatile than it coz it will be great on lightly threaded applications as well. it also consumes more power than an overclocked i5 2500k@5ghz. and pretty much sucks in single threaded applications and most surprisingly does worst than it's previous generation the phenom II.

amd made a hater out of me. it's funny coz I loved amd to death just a couple of days ago. good job AMD! way to kill your fanbase biggrin.gif

What they're trying to tell you is that you can go with an i3 processor, or a Thuban, or a Phenom II X4 and get the same results as you would with that video card. So if you want to play BF3 with a 6970 and be able to achieve the maximum FPS from that card, you can basically go with Core 2 Quad/Phenom II x4 processors and up. You don't have to buy a $270 processor to do something an $80 processor can do.

So your "logic" is that all the negative reviews are wrong or biased?

Just admit that you don't understand it and move on. The rest of us understand that a game can be perfectly playable yet still be gpu bottlenecked and thus useless as a measure of ultimate CPU performance.

What is your explanation of why some reviews show the FX doing great, and some do not? Did some reviewers get special "magic" FXs that perform great and some got regular ones ? Or is it more likely that some people managed to get theirs working correctly, and others did not?headscratch.gif

Just tuning in. So at first glance all the chips seem to be a dud? Is there any of them that stand out? I can't get a real grip on all the info that's out there but the consensus seems to be pretty bad I guess.
