I think this sums it up perfectly.

Lower IPC compared to PII. Anyone looking to build AMD, should pick up Phenom instead lol. What a sad day to be AMD fans.

Sorry guys, been trolling this site for a few days. Very disapponted in the BD-FX processor. Was hoping to turn the tide a bit on the Intel chips.

There is ONE subject that I haven't seen brought up here, and is an essential part of what this site is about. Not just overlocking but unlocking.

Think about this.... FX 4100 for $115.

Soon they will offer (if not now) bios unlocks for the 8 cores.

Think of getting an 8 Core FX processor for $115. That seems like a hell of a deal for me. Worst case if they dont unlock, you can still sell them off cheap or return them. That's a HUGE bang for the buck for me.

8 Cores = $115... Sweet deal. I'll update my sig tomorrow with a pic when I have one unlocked and working.

AMD failing to compete with Intel's best is a bad thing for all of us, even if you don't buy AMD products, nobody here should be gloating or celebrating.
They haven't "competed" in years. Their pricing is still fine.

Why does everything regarding CPUs and GPUs have to end up being pushed towards some internet pissing match?

OT: Pretty underwhelming on a whole. Perhaps some kind of BIOS revision will improve.... whatever the hell it is that's causing such a huge "meh" degree of performance. In any case, the preliminary reviews most certainly wiggle the FX closer to my "not buying" list. I'll wait to see what happens when some members here get a hold of some of these and start tinkering.

edit: I think the biggest portion of people who really wanted to see BD succeed are those who were hoping for a drop-in solution on their existing mobo to bring them closer to SB performance levels. "Fanboys" can argue all they want, while the rest of the adults lean back and form objective opinions based on current and upcoming information.
