Now lets be fair the thuban is good but not that good. In most cases the BD is faster but the problem is that it struggles to get any significant lead over its predecessor. I would consider the 8150 the better CPU when the OC head room is taken into account. The BD can still find its uses but it cant be put on equal ground wit the 2500k so it need to be cheaper

Do you think some reviewers got special magic CPUs that work way better than the "regular" ones, or do you think that the ones showing good performance might be the accurate ones and those that do not have run into a BIOS/driver/MoneyMotivation issue that has skewed their results?

The difference is GPU power. These guys used 3 6970s to remove the GPU bottleneck in games and showed how the performance of the FX really is. There's no use in testing CPUs at high resolutions and detail with only single GPU setups because even C2Qs can get the same frames as fx, i7s etc. at that point.

Hopefully BD will be the same. It's pretty close to sandy bridge right now, so if they can match the kind of performance boost they got w/ the revision of the first Phenom it would make it faster than SB.

Speaking in consumer terms (Server and HPC were a different story).

Core 2 was still 10% faster per clock and overclocked better because Phenom had a cold bug. AMD didn't catch up with core 2 until Phenom II. Bulldozer is (at best) 25% slower per clock. Until clockspeeds improve and the bottlenecks are removed, Bulldozer is not competitive.

All the reviews I've seen have the 1100t ahead in most cases. Including IPC which is the one that counts. Look at the numbers for the 6 core BD as well.

As Master Yoda might say: "Pathetic it is"

Well then I can only conclude that they were payed off by AMD. laugher.gif

Now come on! Phenom X4 came out after Core 2 Quad. It was no competition, a Q6600 at 4ghz blew away a 9950 at 3.2ish(max OC vs max OC).

Anyway the 8-core BD comes close to competing with Intel's best quads. I guess that's good? Doesn't really beat a 2600k multithreaded even (well, 20% on occasion, with double the transistor count)

My advice to AMD would be to shift this entire architecture onto the 28nm die..

It would give them a tighter integration of components thereby a less leak and reduce power required and thus the TDP

Shorter pipelines as one of my friends mentioned so that AMD will be able to perform shorter threads better than it currently does as BD!!

Increase per core performance to boost the overall performance along with an increase of the L2 and L3 cache!!

TSMC is building their 28nm APUs I think, not Global Foundry. GF is building most their CPUs, and they only have 32nm process. If TSMC have the capacity, they should definitely shrink the Phenom II X6 to 28nm, produce that as a consumer product (call it Phenom III or something), leave Bulldozer to servers.
