I'm generally a fairly rationale person for the most part, but the immense amount of delusional insanity that has run rampant is still enough to just make me
Everyone keeps talking about these software patches, utilization updates and so forth, but you know what? I haven't seen anything that confirms any of this yet, and the way AMD has marketed this whole Bulldozer thing leads me to believe that I shouldn't believe in its existence until it's firmly out in the public--just like every damn person tried to argue that we shouldn't believe in any early "preview" or "benchmark."
Even if I wanted to buy into any speculative rumors, in-depth searches pending on this subject indicates the performance increase from any of these so-called "updates" or "patches" is at best a slight tweak in performance--nothing ground breaking.
Look, I'm pretty damn sure there would of been a ton of happy people if AMD merely were able to close the gap between it's current Phenom processors and Intel's Sandy Bridge, but you know what? Multiple scenarios indicate that even the architecture based off of the Phenom line is often superior, and I think this is what really jabs at the AMD supporters.
It took so damn long for AMD to release a CPU that was only better than an i5 2500k in a tiny fraction of minute scenarios, and often bested by AMD's own 3-4 year old Phenom architecture.
What.... WHAT? How can people not feel at least a little upset by that?
On one final note... Even if I wanted to support AMD (which I have done by currently owning a Phenom II x2 system for light usage), I wouldn't do it by buying any of these new processors. Why? It's significantly over priced in comparison to the current Phenom line, and the current Phenom line offers overall more balanced performance than any of these FX processors.
I see absolutely no reason to purchase an FX processor over the Phenom line since a Phenom will offer an overall better balance of performance instead of only being adapt in isolated scenarios which seem almost non-existent.Edited by jivenjune - 10/13/11 at 6:52pm
