[Official] AMD Bulldozer Reviews Thread - Page 228

All of a sudden, Cinebench does not matter because the FX 8150 does not perform. Until BD, Cinebench was the only valid benchmark according to the AMD folk. People have been in denial since Conroe. They cannot accept the reality even when they see how this chip performs!

Excellent video and gives hope for a competitive CPU market.

BD changed a lot of things. Suddenly, power consumption per core matters, GPU bottlenecked benchmarks matter for CPU performance, and CPUs need drivers.

How is a test - that has nothing to do with the CPU - an excellent video that gives hope for a competitive CPU market?

GTR, the AMD kool aid, stop drinking it. A handful of review sites were obviously told to benchmark BD processors in GPU bottlenecked situations, you are clinging to a few GPU benchmarks while standing up for a processor that has simply failed...... Other sites that weren't being biased actually benchmarked processors.

Again, no more kool aid, please.

Thank you.

You are still thinking in the wrong direction.
Bulldozer is a weaker quad when it comes to floating point calculations. But in everything but floating point it rocks.
The problem is that x86 work is alot of floating point work.
So when it comes down to it Amd wants the floating point work to go to the gpu where it excels, and it wants the cpu to do the stuff the gpu cant.
I mean think about it the gpu's are made for floating point calculations. Amd is trying to move all floating point data to the gpu.
Bulldozer is like a rough corvette. sure its not a Lamborghini with pure horse power like the 2500k. BUT it is ahead of its time. If you cant understand that then I dont know what to tell you. Your just in denial. Intel is going a pure FP route while AMD is saying hey we have GPU's for that and trying to conquer other things.

The problem happens to be that everything is made to handle alot of FP calculations. AMD is moving forward while Intel is saying Hahahaha you cant jump 10 years ahead. Just like the 64 bit days.

Amd isn't supposed to beat Intel. It's supposed to push them.

Oy..vey...on paper these chips look good..but in real life..windows takes at least 5 more seconds to load..everything is slower..no matter how much it's oc'd..(4.8 atm) i mean.if it'd reach 8 ghz..it might be semi-ok ..maybe there IS something conflicting in the bd chips..whatever the case ..it gets shelved tomorrow..i'm GONNA have something better than that to work with..either shelved..or taken out to driveway and pounded with a sledgehammer..P4 was faster

It showed that in real world gaming applications of the chip, it performs as well as a 2500K (meaning, most gaming rigs will bottleneck on their GPU before CPU bottlenecks ever become a problem). This will keep those who refuse to ever buy Intel still buying the new chips from AMD.

What that means is that the chip will still sell well enough that AMD will be able to continue research and development in the CPU arena which means there is still hope for a competitive CPU market.

It also means that Sandy Bridge will remain an affordable CPU option.

You might want to check the Linus Tech Tips videos from recent days. NCIX is offering some pre-built and pre-OCed Bulldozer based rigs for sale (with the ASUS board and the GPU he used in his test video). Obviously Linus was not instructed to benchmark BD processors in a GPU bottlenecked situation. He took matters into his own hands because he has a vested interest in BD performing as well as the 2500K.

Crossfire Numbers Anyone?

Now you know the truth. AND THAT'S INTEL'S LAST GENERATION OF CHIPS. The Phenom Looks Better Then BD!
