Makes it a little bit of a niche CPU. It needs a small price reduction to compete really, I think $210-$215 for a 8150 would be fine, a great upgrade for some people.

I'm a little disappointed, I wanted better, though I knew it wasn't gonna beat Intel, but its a step in the right direction maybe. Hopefully they can get single threaded performance up a bit with the next versions and get llano yields under control so they can get moving on maturing the architecture.

But again, I see no real reason for people to be calling it an epic fail, its far from the truth. It's simply not a gaming monster and thats what a lot of people here seem to want, at least the very vocal ones...
Well SB was like Q1/Q2 and BD is like Q4 i think?

Specs like what?

99% of the people in this thread don't know a damn thing beyond number of cores, cache size, and clock speed, none of which are even close to being significant basic architectural features.

What?!

This is almost exactly what anyone with any sense expected.

Power consumption is a bit high when OCed, but otherwise we have all known about the performance and general overclockability for quite some time.

Some people like to pretend that final release stepping of chips aren't made many months before release, that everyone on the planet has signed an AMD NDA, and that English speaking nations are the only ones not stuck in the stone age, but they were only deluding themselves.

I am actually quite pleased, it just goes to show that AMD the company that is extremely smaller compared to Intel. Has a lot less money for research and tech. Is some what aggressive to Intel. Granted it does not beat it in every test, but for a company that has a lot less revenue. They did as well as I expected.

Meh, most results are pretty in-line with what I expected. Not sure why the 4 core FX is so much slower than a Phenom II X4 in some of those tests, though.

I'm curious to see if performance would improve with CPU-NB clocking?

I guess my computer upgrade will have to wait, or I'll be building my first Intel system......maybe AMD will somehow pull something out it's ass by Q1 2012.
