The PII X2 vs e8400 comes down to the price, in which the X2 beats is for price/performance. Also not including a combo deal.
Your other argument is invalid because I didnt have to worry about the price of 1156 being the same as AMD motherboard because I got a free motherboard with my X4
The Phenom II X6 is a better value even though the i7 920 is better. The X58 is a huge investment, some of the motherboard were $250-300 for a long time. With Phenom I could get an el cheapo AM2+/AM3
Not sure why you are still comparing prices of 2 year old hardware.
Going by MC prices the 8150 will be the same price as an i7 2600k, and the mobos are about the same price, except with i7 you get $80 off with i7 combo. I haven't heard of BD combos but I'm sure they will eventually.
The 8120 will actually be $40 more than the i5 2500k.
My point, current gen hardware is what people care about in 2011, and in 2011 Intel still retains price performance crown ATM.
