alrighty then, it's official, i'm gonna have to send back my motherboard and go SB. i'm kind of heartbroken

i simply cannot justify buying an 8150 since SB outperforms it almost every time and even when it loses it loses by single digit percentages.

...and apparently my PSU wouldn't support it

AMD is still value though, those gaming performance numbers are an eye sore, but the Bulldozer line are priced significantly cheaper than the Intel breed of chips. It's not all bad, just not as awesome as some of us expected.

Anandtech:

The difference to the i7 2600k is 73.6 w, and to the i5 2500k it's 95,7 w - this one is the TDP of a Sandy Bridge CPU like the i7 2600k!

Also, both from Anand and PC Pro, these chips don't have much headroom (but who would want to overclock these when they use so much power already ?):

Anandtech:

Quote:
AMD indicated the FX-8150 was good for around 4.6GHz using air cooling, 5GHz using water cooling and beyond with more aggressive cooling methods. In our experience with the platform hitting 4.6GHz, stable, on a stock AMD HSF was not an issue. Moving beyond 4.6GHz on air saw a significant decrease in stability however. I could boot and run benchmarks at 4.7GHz but I'd almost always encounter a crash. I couldn't hit 5GHz on air.

PC Pro:

Quote:
Theoretically, that gives AMD a glimmer of hope when it comes to overclocking but, in our tests, we had mixed results. Boosting the FX-8150 to 4.2GHz was straightforward, but the system became unstable at 4.4GHz.

Yup... AMD either legitimately messed up or they were seriously trying to deceive people.

I'll be buying one for LN2 anyway

On a more serious note, where's the Hitler reaction video about Bulldozer(the scene from Inglorius Basterds)?

true and the issue with BD is that its very sensitive to voltages,it can do an OC on very low voltage, but ppl don't know that. I didn't bother doing a performance review, i figured everyone would come to the same conclusion. So i focused on its HT and NB VVS CPU clocks Vs multi Vs HTT Vs voltage Vs dram performance and OC. My article should come sometime tomorrow on this forum and others.
